The 2005 season of the ''Toppserien'', the first-tier women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 16 April 2005 and ended on 22 October 2005. 18 games were played with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Number nine and ten were originally relegated, but ninth-placed Liungen survived after Asker was forcibly relegated due to economic license issues. The two top teams from the First Division were promoted. Kolbotn won the league. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Regional leagues for women had been played before 1984, and a championship play-off had been done between the winners of Mid-Norway and Eastern-Norway in 1983 (Trondheims-Ørn beat Setskog 2-1), but this championship was considered unofficial by the Football Association of Norway. Arna-Bjørnar
Arna-Bjørnar Fotball is a Norwegian football club from Arna, Bergen. It was founded in late 2000 as a merger between the football branches from ''IL Bjørnar'' and ''Arna T&IL'', and replaced Bjørnar IL in the league system from 2001. The women's team has played since then in the '' Toppserien'' apart from the 2005 season when it was in the First divisjon. Siri Nordby
Siri Kristine Nordby (born 4 August 1978) is a Norwegian football defender who played over fifteen years for Røa in Norway's Toppserien league. She also played for the Norway women's national football team. Career Nordby started her career at Hosle IL, but quickly moved to neighbors Røa when she had to play for an all-girls team. Nordby has played with Røa almost her entire life, aside from the few years she played in the United States at the University of South Florida, and has tallied 250 appearances for the club. She is Røa's set-piece specialist (free kicks, corners and penalty kicks) as well as the vice-captain, and in 2008 captained Røa to "the Double" of Norway's league and Cup titles. Trine Rønning
Trine Bjerke Rønning (born 14 June 1982) is a former Norwegian footballer. She has previously played for Trondheims-Ørn and Kolbotn. Since making her Norway women's national football team debut in October 1999, she has won over 150 caps. Rønning represented her country at the 2005, 2009 and 2013 editions of the UEFA Women's Championship, after being a non-playing squad member in 2001. Kristy Nicole Moore (born 28 January 1977) is an association football winger or striker who has represented both Australia and England at senior international level. She was a full-time professional player with Fulham Ladies before spending nine years in the Norwegian Toppserien with IF Fløya and Stabæk. Lindy Melissa Løvbræk Wiik (born 7 February 1985 in Slemmestad) is a Norwegian footballer who plays for Urædd FK and the Norway national team. Career Asker played in the elite Toppserien league in Norway, and Wiik was the league's top scorer of the 2007 season, with 22 goals from 22 matches. Isabell Lehn Herlovsen (born 23 June 1988) is a Norwegian former football player. She last played for Våleranga and Kolbotn after moving home from China and the club Jiangsu Suning.
