2005 Nottinghamshire County Council Election
The 2005 Nottinghamshire County Council election was held on Thursday, 5 May 2005. The whole council was up for election and the result was the Labour Party retaining its control of the council. Boundary changes to the electoral divisions took effect at this election, with the number of seats increased by four. Results by division Each electoral division returned either one, two or three county councillors. The candidates elected to the council in each electoral division are shown in the table below. "Unopposed" indicates that the councillor was elected unopposed. 2009 Nottinghamshire County Council Election
Elections to Nottinghamshire County Council took place on 4 June 2009, having been delayed from 7 May, in order to coincide with elections to the European Parliament. In the previous election, held on 5 May 2005, the Labour Party won a majority with 36 out of 67 seats. The Conservative Party were second with 26 seats, and the Liberal Democrats had five. Following the 2005 election, there were three by-elections, which all saw swings against Labour. The Conservatives gained Hucknall and the Liberal Democrats Sutton-in-Ashfield North from Labour, and the Labour Party's majority in Mansfield East was reduced by nearly two-thirds. Nottinghamshire County Council
Nottinghamshire County Council is the upper-tier local authority for the non-metropolitan county of Nottinghamshire in England. It consists of 66 county councillors, elected from 56 electoral divisions every four years. The most recent election was held in 2021. The county council is based at County Hall in West Bridgford. The council does not have jurisdiction over Nottingham, which is a unitary authority governed by Nottingham City Council.
