2005 Music City Bowl
The 2005 Music City Bowl was a college football bowl game played between the Virginia Cavaliers of the ACC and the Minnesota Golden Gophers of the Big Ten. Virginia was invited from the ACC, as the SEC did not have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all the bowl slots designated for the conference. Sponsored by Gaylord Hotels and Bridgestone, it was officially named the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl presented by Bridgestone. Game overview Minnesota opened the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryan Cupito to wide receiver Justin Valentine. Bryan Cupito found tight end Ernie Wheelright for a 44-yard touchdown pass and a 14–0 Minnesota lead. Marques Hagans threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Deyon Williams to get UVA within 7, 14–7. Atlantic Coast Conference
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference located in the eastern United States. 2005 Minnesota Golden Gophers Football Team
The 2005 Minnesota Golden Gophers football team represented the University of Minnesota during the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team's head coach was Glen Mason. Minnesota played its home games at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The most notable win of the season came as Minnesota defeated Michigan to win the Little Brown Jug for the first time since 1986. Previous season 2004 was the eighth season under head coach Glen Mason. He led the team to a 7–5 record and an appearance in the Music City Bowl. The Gophers won their first five games before falling in five of their final seven contests. Fontel Mines (born February 26, 1985) is an American football coach and former tight end. He is currently the wide receivers coach and offensive recruiting coordinator for Virginia Tech. He previously was the tight end coach for the Old Dominion Monarchs. Joel Monroe (American Football)
Joel Monroe (1793–1877) was an American farmer and real estate developer during the nineteenth century. He was the eponym for the community of Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Biography Monroe owned a farm that stretched from the Old Stone Church to the present-day Municipal Building, and it went northward into Garden City. The Tusk family owned the farm that stood on a tract measuring and 63 perches (parts of an acre), according to an 1828 deed.
