Gary Pinkel
Gary Robin Pinkel (born April 27, 1952) is a former American college football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Toledo from 1991 to 2000 and the University of Missouri from 2001 to 2015, compiling career record of 191–110–3. Pinkel has the most wins of any head coach in the history of the Toledo Rockets football program and led the 1995 team to a Mid-American Conference championship. He also holds the record for most wins by a head coach of the Missouri Tigers football program. Before becoming a head coach, Pinkel served as an assistant at the University of Washington, under Don James, from 1979 through 1990, the last six of those years as an offensive coordinator. Pinkel was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022. The 2005 Texas Longhorns football team represented the University of Texas at Austin during the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season, winning the Big 12 Conference championship and the national championship. The team was coached by Mack Brown, led on offense by quarterback Vince Young, and played its home games at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The team's penultimate victory of the season, the Big 12 Championship Game, featured the biggest margin of victory in the history of that contest. The Jayhawks, members of the Big 12 Conference, were coached by Mark Mangino in his fourth season as head coach. The Jayhawks defeated Nebraska for the first time in 37 years after beating them 40–15. They finished the regular season 6–5 becoming eligible for a bowl game for the second time in three seasons. The Missouri–Nebraska football rivalry was an American college football rivalry between the Missouri Tigers and Nebraska Cornhuskers. The rivalry was the second oldest in the Big 12 Conference and third oldest west of the Mississippi River.
