2005 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 2005 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 111th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board. James Stephens were the defending champions. On 2 October 2005, Glenmore were relegated after a 2–11 to 0–15 defeat by Fenians. On 23 October 2005, James Stephens won the title after a 1–18 to 2–12 defeat of Ballyhale Shamrocks in the final at Nowlan Park. It was their eighth championship title overall and their second title in succession. Eoin Larkin from the James Stephens club was the championship's top scorer with 0-25. Dicksboro is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny City, Ireland. History Dicksboro GAA Club, founded in 1909. The club takes its name from Dicksboro townland, located next to Kilkenny Airport, the current ground is Palmerstown, to the west of the city. Dicksboro entered and won the junior championship of 1910. Dicksboro entered the senior championship in 1911. Dicksboro had no team from 1961 to 1969, until the club was reformed. Stephen Grehan
Stephen Grehan (born 30 December 1971) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Grehan joined the team during the 1999 championship and was a regular member of the team until his retirement from inter-county hurling after four seasons. James Fitzpatrick (hurler)
James "Cha" Fitzpatrick (born 31 January 1985) is an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Knockmoylan, County Kilkenny, Fitzpatrick first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2004 championship. Fitzpatrick later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won five All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and two National League medals on the field of play. The All-Ireland-winning captain in 2008, he was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. At club level, Fitzpatrick is a three-time All-Ireland medallist with Ballyhale Shamrocks. Eoin Reid
Eoin Reid (born 27 December 1984) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Senior Championship club Ballyhale Shamrocks. He played for the Kilkenny senior hurling team for five years, during which time he usually lined out as a corner-forward. Reid began his hurling career at club level with Ballyhale Shamrocks. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 16-year-old in 2002 and enjoyed his greatest successes as part of the club's All-Ireland Championship-winning teams in 2007, 2010 and 2015 2019 2020 Reid has also won six Leinster Championship medals and nine Kilkenny Championship medals. Michael Phelan (hurler)
Michael Phelan (born 3 August 1967) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. At club level he played with Glenmore and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out at midfield. Career Phelan first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Glenmore club before eventually joining the club's top adult team. He won a total of five County Senior Championship titles with the club and was at centre-forward for the All-Ireland Club Championship success in 1991. Phelan first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny under-21 team that suffered All-Ireland final defeat by Cork in 1988. This success saw him drafted on to the Kilkenny senior hurling team in 1989. Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin (born 11 January 1979) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Galway senior hurling team. In his playing career he was nicknamed "King Henry" because of his directive style, dominance, competitive spirit and leadership on the field. A versatile forward who started out in the corner, Shefflin made his name in more commanding positions as a centre or full-forward. Erin's Own Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1885 and since then has been the main sporting organization in the Castlecomer area in County Kilkenny, Ireland. O'Loughlin Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the St. John’s parish of Kilkenny city, County Kilkenny, Ireland. History The club was founded in 1969, replacing the St. John’s Hurling Club that started back in 1887.
