Group B of the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup took place between 16 June and 22 June 2005. Mexico won the group, and advanced to the second round, along with Brazil. Japan and Greece failed to advance. 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup football tournament was the seventh FIFA Confederations Cup. It was held in Germany between 15 June and 29 June 2005, as a prelude to the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The tournament was won by 2002 FIFA World Cup winners Brazil, who defeated Argentina 4–1 in the final at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt. The final was a rematch of the Copa América final also won by Brazil. It was Brazil's second win at the Confederations Cup. Qualified teams Venues Originally, Kaiserslautern's Fritz-Walter-Stadion was also intended as a venue. However, on 27 May 2004, city authorities withdrew from the bidding process, citing added costs to complete the stadium on time as the reason for the withdrawal. Akira Kaji
is a Japanese former professional footballer who played as a defender. He last played for Japan national team until 2008. Club career After graduating from Takigawa Daini High School, Kaji joined Cerezo Osaka in 1998. He made his first league appearance on 25 July 1998 against Avispa Fukuoka. At the club, he found it difficult to break into the first team and was loaned out to J2 League side Oita Trinita at the start of the 2000 season. After spending two years at Oita, Kaji came back to J1 League in 2002 to play for FC Tokyo. The manager Hiromi Hara made him a regular and assigned a more attacking role. His club won the 2004 J.League Cup by beating Urawa Reds in the final which ended 0–0 after the extra time. Carlos Salcido
Carlos Arnoldo Salcido Flores (; born 2 April 1980) is a Mexican former professional footballer. He started his career as a centre-back and played most of it as left-back, then converted to defensive midfielder and ended it as centre-back. He won the 2012 Olympic gold medal. After emerging through Guadalajara's youth system, he went on to be a mainstay for PSV Eindhoven, acting as vice-captain for the Dutch team and was the first player from Mexico to be champion in the Eredivise. Aarón Galindo Rubio (born 8 May 1982) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Biography Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Galindo began practicing with Cruz Azul at the young age of six, climbing up the youth ranks. Finally Galindo made his debut with the first team in the 2002 spring season, and was a solid starter by the 2003 Clausura season. Ricardo Osorio Mendoza (born 30 March 1980) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a defender. Club career Early career Born in Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca, Osorio made his debut in the Primera División de México in 2001–02 season with Cruz Azul in a match against Atlante F.C., with a 3–1 victory. Oswaldo Javier Sánchez Ibarra (; born 21 September 1973) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper and a sports analyst for Televisa Deportes. Keiji Tamada
is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a forward for V-Varen Nagasaki. Club career Tamada joined Kashiwa Reysol from Narashino High School in 1999. is a Japanese former professional footballer who played as a forward. He made 22 appearances scoring 5 goals for Japan national team between 2005 and 2008.
