The 2005 Copa del Rey was the 69th edition of the Spanish basketball Cup. It was organized by the ACB and was disputed in Zaragoza in the Pabellón Príncipe Felipe between days 17 and 20 of February. The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto (English: '' King's Cup of Basketball'') is an annual cup competition for Spanish basketball teams organized by Spain's top professional league, the Liga ACB. History Originally known as the ''Copa de España de Baloncesto'', was first played in 1933 and contested in its first editions only by teams from the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona. It was the first nationwide basketball competition played in Spain. During the Francoism, it was referred to as the ''Copa del Generalísimo de Baloncesto'', before becoming the ''Copa del Rey de Baloncesto'' in 1977. Format Until the establishment of the ACB in 1983, the Cup was played in its latest rounds with double-legged series and its final as a single game in a neutral venue. Žan Tabak (born 15 June 1970) is a Croatian professional basketball coach and former player who last served as the head coach for San Pablo Burgos of the Liga ACB. William McDonald (born October 5, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. He graduated from the University of South Florida. In March 2012, McDonald was ejected from a game while playing for Petron Blaze Boosters. During an 80–94 loss to Barako Bull Energy, McDonald was ejected for throwing the ball into Mick Pennisi's forehead. The ejection trended on YouTube because of Pennisi's 'delayed flop'. McDonald was drafted 5th overall in the 2019 BIG3 draft by the Ball Hogs. In that year's season, McDonald ranked fourth in scoring and second in rebounding among all players in the league. William Amar Keys (born October 26, 1977) is a retired American professional basketball player and basketball coach. At a height of 6'2" (1.88 m) and a weight of 210 lbs. (95 kg), he played at the point guard position. He currently is a men's basketball assistant coach at Northern New Mexico College in Espanola, New Mexico. José Manuel Calderón Borrallo (; born September 28, 1981) is a Spanish basketball executive and former player who is a special advisor for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Fabricio Raúl Jesús Oberto (; born March 21, 1975) is an Argentine-Italian color analyst and former professional basketball player. At , he played as a center and power forward. Gregor Fučka (; born 7 August 1971) is a Slovenian-Italian retired professional basketball player and coach. A 215 cm (7' ") forward-center, he was a both a Mister Europa and Euroscar laureate in 2000. Rodrigo de la Fuente Morgado (born 26 November 1976) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player and the current general manager of the basketball section of FC Barcelona.
