The 2005 Wallabies spring tour was a series of five matches played by the Australia national rugby union team in November 2005. Australia National Rugby Union Team
The Australia national rugby union team, nicknamed the Wallabies, is the representative national team in the sport of rugby union for the nation of Australia. The team first played at Sydney in 1899, winning their first test match against the touring British Isles team. Australia have competed in all nine Rugby World Cups, winning the final on two occasions and also finishing as runner-up twice. Australia beat England at Twickenham in the final of the 1991 Rugby World Cup and won again in 1999 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff when their opponents in the final were France. The Wallabies also compete annually in The Rugby Championship (formerly the Tri-Nations), along with southern hemisphere counterparts Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa. Rémy Martin (rugby Union)
Rémy Martin (born 10 August 1979 in Aubenas, Ardèche) is a French rugby union footballer. He has also played for France. His usual position is at flanker. Martin's first club was Mont de Marsan. He played six games for the club in the European Challenge Cup during the 2000–01 season, including scoring a try in the first two matches against Bristol and Parma. The following season he signed with Stade Français. He played in five matches for the Stade Français in the 2001–02 Heineken Cup, starting one game against Munster. Martin made his international debut for France in 2002, in a match against England during the 2002 Six Nations Championship on 6 March. Thomas Castaignède
Thomas Castaignède (born 21 January 1975) is a rugby union footballer from Mont-de-Marsan. Born in Mont-de-Marsan, Aquitaine, Castaignède played as a junior and senior for Stade Montois in various positions, initially as Fly-half (rugby union), fly-half or Centre (rugby union), centre, and latterly as Fullback (rugby union), fullback. He joined Stade Toulousain, Toulouse to help them win French titles in three successive seasons, and lifted the inaugural Heineken Cup, European Cup with the club. Castaignède then played for Castres Olympique before joining Saracens. Yann Delaigue
Yann Delaigue (born April 5, 1973 in Vienne, Isère) is a retired French international rugby union player. A highly talented player, nicknamed « Little Mozart », he played the first two matches of the 1995 Rugby World Cup. In 2001 he was part of the French Barbarians against Fiji. In 2003, he won the Heineken Cup for Toulouse, scoring five penalties and a conversion. Sébastien Chabal
Sébastien Chabal (born 8 December 1977) is a French former rugby union player. He played number eight and lock for Bourgoin (1998–2004), Sale Sharks (2004–2009), Racing Métro 92 Paris (2009 – February 2012), and for the French national team. Chabal played professionally for 16 years and won the English Premiership with Sale, and the 2007 Six Nations Championship with France. He also finished in fourth place at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He earned his first international cap on 4 March 2000 against Scotland, and represented France in 62 games. Grégory Lamboley
Grégory Lamboley (12 January 1982) is a French rugby union footballer, currently playing for Stade Toulousain in the Top 14, the top competition of rugby in France. Lamboley has also played for the French national team. His usual position is as a lock or a flanker. Prior to playing for Toulouse he played for Massy. He made his debut for the French national team in 2005 in a match against Scotland. He was educated at the Lycée Lakanal in Sceaux. Lionel Nallet
Lionel Nallet (born 14 September 1976) is a former French rugby union player. He played as a lock and is a former captain of the France national team. He began his professional career with CS Bourgoin-Jallieu, playing there from 1998 to 2003 before moving to Castres Olympique. Nallet moved from there to Racing in 2009 before finishing his career with Lyon OU between 2012 and 2015. Nallet made his international debut for France on 28 May 2000 in a test match against Romania at Bucharest's Dinamo Stadium. France won the match 67–20, with Nallet scoring a try on debut. Sylvain Marconnet (born 8 April 1976) is a French rugby union footballer who played for Biarritz Olympique having signed from Stade Français in the Top 14 club competition in France. His usual position is prop. Marconnet has played for France, including representing them at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Marconnet made his debut for Stade Français during the 1997–98 season, which was also the year that they were crowned champions of France. Marconnet made his international debut for France on 15 November 1998, in a match against Argentina in Nantes. The match was won by France, 34 points to 14. Sébastien Bruno
Sébastien Bruno (born 26 August 1974 in Nîmes, France) is a French rugby union footballer who plays as a hooker for Toulon and formerly for France. Born in Nîmes, Bruno joined Sale Sharks from French club Béziers, making his debut against Leicester Tigers in 2004. In the 2005–2006 season, Bruno played as a replacement in the final as Sale Sharks won their first ever Premiership title. He made his international debut in 2002 against Wales, and was selected as a member of France's 2007 Rugby World Cup squad held in France. Bruno returned to France for the 2009–10 Top 14 season signing for Toulon. Olivier Milloud is a retired French rugby union footballer, who last played for Stade Français in the Top 14. He has also played for the France national team, including being a part of their 2003 Rugby World Cup squad. He usually plays as a prop. He made his international debut for France in a match against Romania on 28 May 2000. He had surgery on his ankle in 2003, though he recovered in time to be named in France's squad for the 2003 Rugby World Cup. He played in five matches during the tournament in Australia. Dimitri Szarzewski (; born 26 January 1983e) is a former French rugby union footballer. His usual position was at hooker, and also represented France. Szarzewski's first club was AS Béziers Hérault where he played from 2002 to 2004. He played five matches for Béziers during the 2002-03 Heineken Cup, as a substitute against Calvisano, Neath RFC and Leicester during 2002. He started the matches against Neath and Calvisano during the 2003 leg of the tournament. The following season, Béziers played in the 2003-04 European Challenge Cup, as opposed to the Heineken Cup. Pieter De Villiers (rugby Union)
Pieter de Villiers (born 3 July 1972 in Malmesbury, South Africa) is a South African-born French rugby union player and coach. As a player he represented France at international level and played in two Rugby World Cups, and ended his club career with Stade Français in the Top 14 competition in France. A prop, he was renowned for his scrummaging ability.
