The 2004–05 Ukrainian Hockey League season was the 12th season of the Ukrainian Hockey League, the top level of ice hockey in Ukraine. 12 teams participated in the league, and HC Sokil Kyiv won the championship. Ukrainian Hockey Championship
The Ukrainian Hockey Championship ( ua, Чемпіонат України з Хокею, '' tr: Chempionat Ukrayiny z Khokeyu'') is an annual ice hockey award and national title, bestowed to the ice hockey organization judged to have the best performing team in Ukraine, founded in 1992. Prior to the 2015–16 season, the league playing for the title took the name Ukrainian Hockey Extra League. In 2016, the new Ukrainian Hockey League was created instead. History First Ukrainian hockey competitions were conducting since February 1949. Prior to the formation of the Professional Hockey League (PHL), the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine (FHU) administered and handed out the award, allowing both amateur and professional teams to compete in an annual regular season, then playoff for the title. Druzbha-78 ( uk, Дружба-78; en, Friendship-78) was an U-18 ice hockey team based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Sexual abuse allegations and suicide In January 2012, the coach and owner of the team, Ivan Pravilov was accused of fondling a 14-year-old Ukrainian player whom he had invited to his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was arrested, and placed in a Federal Detention Center. Days later he was found to be unresponsive at around 3:00 am; by 3:45, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Evidence suggested that he had committed suicide by hanging in his jail cell. Berkut Hockey Club ( uk, ХК Беркут, ''HC Berkut'') was a Ukrainian professional ice hockey team based in Brovary. While its home arena is in Brovary, within the Kyiv region, it also played in the city of Kyiv. It was a founding member of the Professional Hockey League of Ukraine, before being expelled by the League and forfeited from the 2013 playoffs. The organization's current focus is its youth development program. The team's name, Berkut, means golden eagle. HK ATEK Kyiv was an ice hockey team in Kyiv, Ukraine. The team played in the Ukrainian Hockey League, the top level of Ukrainian ice hockey. They were founded in 1994, and were Ukrainian champions in 2007. Their last appearance in the Ukrainian Hockey League came during the 2008-09 season. The club was inactive from 2009 to 2014.
