2004–05 Portland Trail Blazers Season
The 2004–05 NBA season was the 35th season for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association. During the offseason, the Blazers acquired Nick Van Exel from the Golden State Warriors and signed free agent Joel Przybilla. The Blazers played around .500 for the first two months, but started to struggle losing 11 of their 15 games in January. Head coach Maurice Cheeks was fired midway through the season with a record of 22–33. He was replaced by general manager Kevin Pritchard, who acted as interim coach for the remainder of the season, in which the team went 5–22. For the second year in a row, the Blazers did not qualify for the playoffs. The team's overall record of 27–55 was their worst since 1973–74, their fourth season of existence. Maurice Cheeks
Maurice Edward Cheeks (born September 8, 1956) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who serves as assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also served as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons. Cheeks was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 2018. Early life Cheeks was born in Chicago, and attended DuSable High School. He attended West Texas State University from 1974 to 1978. Cheeks was an all-Missouri Valley Conference player for three straight seasons, as he averaged 16.8 points per game and shot nearly 57% for his collegiate career. 2005–06 New Jersey Nets Season
The 2005–06 New Jersey Nets season was the team's 39th season in the NBA. Without Brian Scalabrine, who was signed as a free agent with the Boston Celtics in the offseason, they began the season hoping to improve upon their 42-40 output from the previous season. They bested it by seven wins, finishing 49-33 and qualifying for the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season. The Nets lost in the second round to the eventual champions, the Miami Heat. Ha Seung-Jin (born August 4, 1985) is a South Korean former professional basketball player who has played in the NBA and the NBA D-League. Sergei Alexandrovich Monia (russian: Сергей Александрович Моня; born 15 April 1983) is a Russian professional basketball player. He was selected by the NBA club the Portland Trail Blazers, in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2004 NBA draft. Sebastian Telfair (born June 9, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the NBA and the Chinese Basketball Association. The 2005-06 Houston Rockets season was the team's 39th in the NBA. They began the season hoping to improve upon their 51–31 output from the previous season. However, they came up seventeen games shy of tying it, finishing 34–48, and failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in three seasons. Derek Lamont Anderson (born July 18, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player and current coach. He played eleven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). College career Anderson is a graduate of Doss High School and was an All-Star in the state of Kentucky. Anderson played college basketball at the Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky.
