2004–05 ABA Season ...
The 2004–05 ABA season was the fourth season of the American Basketball Association. The regular season started in November 2004 and the year ended with the championship game in March 2005 featuring the Arkansas RimRockers and Bellevue Blackhawks. Arkansas defeated Bellevue, 118-103 in the championship game to win their first ABA title. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Texas Tycoons
The Texas Tycoons were a team of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the World Basketball Association (WBA) based in Dallas. The team began play in the fall of 2004 based in Fort Worth. The Texas Tycoons played their 2007–08 season in DeSoto, Texas, at the DeSoto Recreation Center. History They finished the 2005 season with a 17–9 record, and finished 2nd place in the White Division. They lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Bellevue Blackhawks 101–94. On December 1, 2005, the Tycoons announced that they were leaving the ABA. A press release noted concerns that the team had discussed with the ABA office, but that they did not wish to disclose publicly. The Tycoons left with a 3–0 record, ranking third in the ABA's Power Sixteen. However, it was announced later on that the Tycoons would return to the ABA for the 2006–07 season, along with the Houston Havoc. The Washington GreenHawks were a team of the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) based in Washington, D.C. As the Maryland Nighthawks they were formerly part of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and a founding member of the Premier Basketball League (PBL), in which they later played as the Maryland GreenHawks.
