This 50-position chart lists the most popular country music songs, calculated weekly by collecting airplay data from Nielsen BDS along with digital sales and streaming. The current number-one song, as of the chart dated December 24, 2022, is "You Proof" by Morgan Wallen. History ''Billboard'' began compiling the popularity of country songs with its January 8, 1944, issue. Only the genre's most popular jukebox selections were tabulated, with the chart titled "Most Played Juke Box Folk Records". For approximately ten years, from 1948 to 1958, ''Billboard'' used three charts to measure the popularity of a given song. "Feels Like Today" is a song written by Wayne Hector and Steve Robson and recorded by American country music group Rascal Flatts. It was released in June 2004 as the first single and title track from the album of the same name. The song peaked at number 9 on the U.S. '' Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 2004. "Feels Like Today" was featured on the '' Smallville: The Metropolis Mix'' soundtrack. It was played during the Season 4 episode, "Run." "Hey, Good Lookin'" is a 1951 song written and recorded by Hank Williams, and his version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. In 2003, CMT voted the Hank Williams version No. 19 on ''CMT's 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music''. Since its original 1951 recording it has been covered by a variety of artists. Background The Hank Williams song "borrowed heavily" from the 1942 song with the same title written by Cole Porter.
