Zoila Barros
Zoila Barros Fernández (born 6 August 1979) is a retired Cuban female volleyball player who played as a middle blocker. She played for the Cuban women's national volleyball team, and helped the team win a gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Barros was named Best Spiker at the 2005 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship in Port of Spain, where Cuba was defeated in the final by title defender USA. Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a Continental Cup organized by NORCECA with teams from all over America ( North-, South- and Central America, and the Caribbean), that served as a qualifier for the World Grand Prix. The tournament also granted places for the Final Four Women's Volleyball Cup. Now, the event serves as an America qualifier for the Pan American Games classification. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. FIVB World Grand Prix 2005
The FIVB World Grand Prix 2005 was the thirteenth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, which is the female equivalent of the Men's Volleyball World League. The 2005 edition was played by twelve countries from June 24 to July 18, 2005, with the final round held at the Sendai Gymnasium in Sendai, Japan. Hosts Japan and the top five ranked teams after the preliminary rounds qualified for the last round. The competition of the 2005 WGP lasted four weeks with a total number of 69 matches. During the first, second and third week: 18 matches per team were played with a total of 54 matches. Yaima Ortiz Charro (born 9 November 1981, in Havana) is a retired Cuban volleyball player and model, who competed in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Career 2001 Ortiz made altitude training in March 2001 with the National Team in Riobamba, Ecuador in order to be in shape for the upcoming tournaments. Elisabeth Anne "Wiz" Bachman (born November 7, 1978) is a retired volleyball player from the United States, who represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. There she finished in fifth place with the USA National Team. Career Elisabeth Bachman played at UCLA during her time as an undergraduate. While there she completed a highly successful Bruin career with 1,308 kills and 622 blocks, becoming the first Bruin and fifth Pac-10 player in history to record both 1,200 career kills and 600 career blocks. Lindsey Napela Berg (born July 16, 1980) is an American volleyball player who plays for Fenerbahçe Istanbul in Turkey. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and played volleyball for the University of Minnesota. She played in three Olympic Games for the United States national team, winning two silver medals.
