The 2004 Nordic Golf League was the sixth season of the Nordic Golf League, a third-tier tour recognised by the European Tour. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2004 season. Order of Merit The Order of Merit was based on tournament results during the season, calculated using a points-based system. The top five players on the Order of Merit earned status to play on the 2005 Challenge Tour. Joakim Bäckström
Joakim Bäckström (born 16 March 1978) is a Swedish professional golfer. Bäckström was born in Umeå. He turned professional in 1999. Having failed to win a place on the European Tour in 2000, Bäckström spent his early career in Sweden on the Telia Tour, where he won the 2001 Gula Sidorna Grand Open and the 2002 Sunbyholm Open. He also picked up five wins in Denmark during 2003 and 2004. Bäckström finally joined the European Tour in 2005 after coming through the 2004 qualifying school final stage, and won the Aa St Omer Open during his rookie season. However he has struggled to establish himself after that, never finishing inside the top 100 on the Order of Merit, and lost his tour card at the end of 2008. SM Match
The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. Since 1984, except 1985, the tournament has been open to both amateurs and professionals and for foreign citizens. Eirik Tage Johansen (born 23 May 1982) is a Norwegian professional golfer. Johansen was born in the United States, and returned to the country of his birth as a successful amateur golfer, taking up a golf scholarship at the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the golf team. After graduating in 2006, he turned professional, and immediately won a place on the European Tour after advancing through qualifying school. Sven Olof Fredrik Söderström (born 30 January 1973) is a Swedish retired footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Ludvika, Söderström started his professional career with lowly IK Brage. In January 1997 he moved to Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal, where his stellar performances attracted the attention of fellow Primeira Liga club FC Porto. Söderström played 24 matches in his first season, but went on to serve consecutive loans for the remainder of his contract, mainly in that nation, as the northerners achieved consecutive European competition accolades.
