The 2004 League of Ireland First Division season was the 20th season of the League of Ireland First Division. Overview The First Division was contested by 12 teams and Finn Harps won the division. Each team played the other teams three times, totalling 33 games. The 2005 season would see the League of Ireland Premier Division revert to 12 twelve teams. To facilitate this expansion there was no promotion/relegation play-off this season and the second and third placed teams, UCD and Bray Wanderers, were automatically promoted. The League of Ireland First Division ( ga, Céad Roinn Sraith na hÉireann), also known as the SSE Airtricity League First Division, is the second level division in both the League of Ireland and the Republic of Ireland football league system. The division was formed in 1985. It replaced the League of Ireland B Division as the League of Ireland's second level division. Since 2003 the First Division has operated as a summer league. Cobh ( ,), known from 1849 until 1920 as Queenstown, is a seaport town on the south coast of County Cork, Ireland. The League of Ireland Cup 2004 was the 31st staging of the League of Ireland Cup, which was won by Longford Town, the club's first victory in the competition. The 2004 League Cup kicked off in May. It featured two teams representing the Kerry and Mayo Leagues plus the 10 teams from the Premier Division and the 12 from the First Division. There was 24 teams drawn into eight groups of three. Éamon Zayed ( ar, أیمن زايد; born 4 October 1983) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is currently the head coach of Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC in USL League One.
