2004 Football Conference Play-off Final
The 2004 Football Conference play-off Final took place on 16 May 2004 and was contested between Aldershot Town and Shrewsbury Town. It was held at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent. A crowd of 19,216 attended the game (a Conference Play-off final record at the time), with just over 12,000 travelling from Shropshire. Match Summary Aldershot had the first real chance of the game when Roscoe Dsane got on the end of a ball over the top of the defence and held off Shrews captain Darren Tinson, only to drag his shot wide. Jon Challinor then had a chance but failed to connect properly with Aaron McLean's cutback. At the other end it took a crucial intervention from Dominic Sterling to deny Jamie Tolley after a good surging run from the midfielder. 2003–04 Football Conference
Since its inception in 1979, The Football Conference has formed the fifth-highest level of the overall English Football League System. The 2003–04 Football Conference season was the 25th season of the Football Conference and the last consisting of a single division. The top team and the winner of the play-offs were promoted to Football League Two, while this season only one team was relegated. Scott Howie
Scott Howie (born 4 January 1972) is a Scottish former professional Association football, football goalkeeper. Having played professionally in the English and Scottish football leagues, he last played for English non-league side Wroxham F.C., Wroxham. Howie played for local non-league side Ferguslie United before joining Clyde F.C., Clyde in 1991, continuing to study for his Business Degree. He graduated with a BA from University of Strathclyde, Strathclyde Business School in July 1994. Howie was capped by Scotland national under-21 football team, Scotland under-21s while with Clyde, making his debut against Malta national football team, Malta and also appearing for Clyde later the same day. Jon Challinor
Jon Challinor (born 2 December 1980) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder for club Stamford. He has played in the Football League for York City. Challinor started his career with Rushden & Diamonds, and after being released in 2000 had spells with Stamford, Cambridge City, the Kalamazoo Kingdom and St Albans City. He reached the 2004 Football Conference play-off Final with Aldershot Town, and after another unsuccessful play-off campaign in the 2004–05 season signed for Exeter City in 2005. He played in the 2007 Conference National play-off Final defeat before returning to Rushden in 2007. Agyei William Kwabena "Will" Antwi (born 19 October 1982), is an English-born Ghanaian former professional footballer and head coach for England U15s. As a player, he was a defender who played between 2002 and 2014. Simon Downer
Simon Downer (born 19 October 1981) is a former English footballer who played as a central defender or right back. Club career Downer's previous clubs include Leyton Orient, Aldershot Town (loan), Weymouth, Grays Athletic, Wivenhoe Town, Rushden & Diamonds and Sutton United. Having played for the West Ham youth academy, Downer, who at the time was playing for Leyton Orient, went on trial with Newcastle United. However, Bobby Robson decided against signing the 19-year-old Downer, as he had a recurring problem with his left knee that needed an operation. Nikki Bull
Nikki Bull (born 2 October 1981) is an English professional footballer who is the manager of Guildford City. During his playing career, he was a goalkeeper, representing Aldershot Town and Wycombe Wanderers, Queens Park Rangers, Hayes and latterly Margate, whom he also later managed until February 2017. Playing career Bull was born in Hastings, East Sussex and moved to Aldershot Town in the summer of 2002 after being released by Queens Park Rangers. Jamie Gosling (born 21 March 1982) is an English former professional football midfielder. He previously played professionally in the Football League for Yeovil Town and Torquay United. He currently lives in Australia after setting up the Jamie Gosling Football Academy in Cairns, the largest junior football coaching academy in Far North Queensland. Chris Giles (born 16 April 1982 in Wales) is a former Welsh footballer, who was most recently acting first team coach at Yeovil Town. He played predominantly as a defender, but could also play as a striker. Playing career Yeovil Town Giles began his career with Yeovil Town, as youth team top goalscorer and Player of the Year. Tim Sills
Timothy Sills (born 10 September 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is currently manager of Wimborne Town. Sills was a product of Millwall's youth system and was a regular in the club's youth team up until he left in 1997. He then joined part-time outfit Camberley Town, spending a year and a half at the club, before moving to Basingstoke Town towards the end of the 1998–99 season. Sills spent three seasons with Basingstoke, playing over 100 games for the club.
