2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship
The 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship was held from 10 to 27 November 2004. It was the second edition of the youth tournament for women put together by FIFA, before being renamed FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship for the 2006 edition. The tournament was hosted by Thailand, in two stadiums in Bangkok, one in Chiang Mai and another in Phuket. This was the first FIFA women's tournament held in Southeast Asia. Brazil's Marta was the Adidas Golden Ball recipient, as the tournament's most valuable player (MVP), and Canada's Brittany Timko won the Golden Shoe with 7 goals in 4 games. Brittany Timko
Brittany Amanda Baxter (née Timko) (born September 5, 1985) is a Canadian retired soccer player who played professionally for five different clubs and earned 132 caps with the Canadian National Team. Club career Baxter's first senior club team was Vancouver Whitecaps Women. She also played on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln soccer team from 2003 to 2007, graduating in May 2007. She then signed for Melbourne Victory of Australia's newly formed W-League in October 2008, linking up with her former coach Matt Shepherd. In the first half of the 2009–10 season Baxter played in Sweden's Damallsvenskan league for Piteå IF, and in the second played for SG Essen-Schönebeck. She left Essen-Schönebeck during the summer of 2010. Baxter was signed by the Seattle Sounders Women in the W-League on May 2, 2014. Surakul Stadium
Surakul Stadium (; ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Phuket Province, Thailand. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 15,000 and was built in 1959. The stadium co-hosted the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup. The use of the Surakul Stadium for this tournament had to be hastily arranged. Stadiums in Bangkok were intended to be used but because of the airport takeovers in Bangkok by the PAD the AFF in consultation with the FAT decided to switch venues. Despite better stadiums being available in Nakhon Ratchasima ( 5th December Stadium); Chiang Mai (700th Anniversary Stadium) and Songkhla (Tinsulanon Stadium); the Surakul Stadium was chosen as all the teams could fly directly into Phuket. The stadium also played host to the 2009 King's Cup which included a notorious game involving Thailand and Lebanon where the latter walked off the pitch during the game as they became incensed by what they saw as biased refereeing.
