2004 FIA GT Championship Season
The 2004 FIA GT Championship season was the 8th season of the FIA GT Championship. It was a series contested by Grand Touring style cars broken into two classes based on power and manufacturer involvement, called GT and N-GT. It began on 28 March 2004 and ended 14 November 2004 after 11 races. Schedule Entries GT N-GT Season results Overall winners in bold. Drivers Championship GT standings The GT Drivers Championship was won jointly by Luca Cappellari and Fabrizio Gollin who shared a Ferrari 550 Maranello entered by BMS Scuderia Italia. N-GT standings The N-GT Drivers Championship was won jointly by Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr who shared a Porsche 996 GT3 RSR entered by Freisinger Motorsport. Teams Championship Points were awarded separately in both GT and N-GT to the top 8 class finishers in the order of 10–8–6–5–4–3–2–1. FIA GT Championship
The FIA GT Championship was a sports car racing series organized by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) at the behest of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship was mostly concentrated in Europe, but throughout the years has visited other continents including Asia and South America. At the end of 2009, the championship was replaced by the FIA GT1 World Championship, which morphed into the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, FIA GT Series for 2013. Regulations FIA currently defines several categories of grand tourer, GT cars with the top two specifications being GT1, or Grand Touring Cars, and GT2, or Series Grand Touring Cars. BMS Scuderia Italia SpA (sometimes referred to as simply Scuderia Italia) is an Italian auto racing team founded by Italian steel magnate and motorsports enthusiast Giuseppe Lucchini in 1983. Initially named Brixia Motor Sport (BMS) the team briefly entered the World Touring Car Championship, the team's name was altered to BMS Scuderia Italia upon their entrance into Formula One in . Enzo Calderari (born 18 April 1952, Bienne, Switzerland) is a Swiss entrepreneur and former car racing driver. Career Enzo Calderari is the son of Jacques Calderari, who was active as a sports car driver in the 1960s. The son, a real estate agent in his day job, can look back on a racing career spanning almost 30 years. He began GT and touring car racing in the 1970s and, together with Marco Vanoli, finished sixth overall in the 1980 European Touring Car Championship (overall winner Helmut Kelleners and Siegfried Müller junior). In addition to further appearances in the European Touring Car Championship, he competed in the German Racing Championship and the World Sportscar Championship. Lilian Bryner (born 21 April 1959) is a racing driver from Switzerland. Career She has mainly raced in the FIA GT Championship from 1997 until 2005 and has raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Her first race at Le Mans was in 1993, but her most successful was finishing second in the GT2 class with Ecurie Biennoise and ninth overall in 1994. In 1995 she joined Stadler Motorsport but in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans her #79 Porsche 911 GT2 retired completing 81 laps. In the same year she entered in the BPR Global GT Series and finished 3rd in the standings taking only one podium.
