2004 Champs Sports Bowl
The 2004 Champs Sports Bowl was the 15th edition of the college football bowl game and was played on December 21, 2004, featuring the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Syracuse Orange. This was the first version of the bowl played under the Champs Sports moniker and 15th overall. Syracuse of the Big East was chosen because the Big 12 did not have enough bowl eligible teams. Game summary Georgia Tech started the scoring with a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown, on the second play of scrimmage, giving Georgia Tech the early 7–0 lead. Syracuse quarterback Perry Patterson scored on a 21-yard touchdown run cutting the lead to 7–6. Tech answered with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Reggie Ball to wide receiver Calvin Johnson, increasing Tech's lead to 14–6. Big East Conference (1979–2013)
The Big East Conference was a collegiate athletics conference that consisted of as many as 16 universities in the eastern half of the United States from 1979 to 2013. The conference's members participated in 24 NCAA sports. The conference had a history of success at the national level in basketball throughout its history, while its shorter (1991 to 2013) football program, created by inviting one college and four other "associate members" (their football programs only) into the conference, resulted in two national championships. In basketball, Big East teams made 18 Final Four appearances and won 7 NCAA championships as Big East members through 2013 (UConn with three, Georgetown, Syracuse, Louisville and Villanova with one each). The Cheez-It Bowl is an annual college football bowl game that is played in Orlando, Florida, at Camping World Stadium. The bowl is operated by Florida Citrus Sports, a non-profit group which also organizes the Citrus Bowl and the Florida Classic. It was first played in 1990 in Miami Gardens, Florida, before moving to Orlando in 2001. The 2004–05 NCAA football bowl games were a series of 32 post-season games (including the Bowl Championship Series) played in December 2004 and January 2005 for Division I-A football teams and their all-stars. The post-season began with the New Orleans Bowl on December 14, 2004, and concluded on January 29, 2005, with the season-ending Senior Bowl. A total of 28 team-competitive games, and five all-star games, were played. For the first time in three years, the 56 available bowl slots were filled by teams with winning records, as no teams with non-winning seasons (6–6, or .500) were invited to participate in bowl games. The 2012 Hyundai Sun Bowl, the 79th edition of the game, was a post-season American college football bowl game, held on December 31, 2012, at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, as part of the 2012–13 NCAA Bowl season. The game, the 79th edition of the Sun Bowl, was televised in the United States on CBS. The game featured the USC Trojans from the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12) against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The 2010 New Era Pinstripe Bowl was the first edition of this college football bowl game, and was played at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York. PJ Daniels
Prince Ahadzie Daniels, Jr. (P. J.) (born December 12, 1982) is a former American football running back. He played for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League in 2006. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens as the 132nd overall pick. College career While at Georgia Tech, he majored in management and minored in chemistry. In four years, Daniels had over 3,300 yards rushing, 360 yards receiving, 230 kick return yards, and 26 all-purpose touchdowns. The most notable aspect of Daniels' career was that he began the 2002 season as a walk-on and was seventh on the depth chart. Through attrition, flunkouts, and hard work, Daniels became the starter for Georgia Tech in 2003. Calvin Johnson Jr., (born September 29, 1985) is an American former football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons with the Detroit Lions.
