The 2004 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A was the 48th edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. The competition was won by Santos, coached by Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Runners-up were Atlético Paranaense, which led the competition for 11 weeks and lost the title in the penultimate round. Washington Stecanela Cerqueira, or simply Washington (born 1 April 1975), is a Brazilian football pundit, coach, and former player who played as a striker. Career In the 2002–03 Turkish league season Washington scored 9 goals in 12 games, but was subsequently released by Fenerbahçe because of his health problems. Washington was submitted to a coronary catheterization. Once recovered, physicians told him that playing football would not represent a risk to his condition. He then signed with Brazilian club Atlético Paranaense where he was 2004 Série A top-scorer with 34 goals and broke the league's record. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série B is commonly referred to as the Brasileirão Série B (Série B), and until 2022 was officially called Brasileirão Sportingbet by sponsorship reasons. The 2006 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A was the 50th edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. It began on April 15, 2006, and reached its end on December 3, 2006. Format The format was similar to the 2005 edition, though fielding two fewer teams. 20 teams competed, each team playing the other in a home-and-away format. The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as the Copa Libertadores de América ( pt, Copa Libertadores da América), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. Vanderlei Luxemburgo
Vanderlei Luxemburgo da Silva (born 10 May 1952) is a Brazilian professional football coach and former player. He is currently a free agent. A left wingback, Luxemburgo represented Flamengo, Internacional and Botafogo before retiring in 1980. He subsequently became a coach and led Palmeiras, Corinthians, Cruzeiro and Santos to Série A titles, winning the tournament five times, a record total. In 2005 he worked at Real Madrid, but was dismissed in December of that year. His surname is after revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg. Playing career Born in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, Luxemburgo played the most of his youth football for Botafogo, but made his senior debut with Flamengo in 1972; at the club, he was mainly a backup to Júnior.
