During the 2003–04 English football season, Ipswich Town competed in the Football League First Division. Season summary Ipswich Town, in their second consecutive season in English football's second tier, finished the campaign in fifth place. Having scored 84 goals, Town suffered from their poor defensive record: with 72 goals conceded, Town had the third worst defensive record in the whole division, and the worst of the top 18 teams. Town won the first leg of their play-off, against fourth-placed West Ham United, with a goal from teenage striker Darren Bent (who scored 15 goals in the league alone), but lost the second leg 2–0, condemning Town to another season in the new championship. Ipswich () is a port town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. The town is located in East Anglia about away from the mouth of the River Orwell and the North Sea. Ipswich is both on the Great Eastern Main Line railway and the A12 road; it is north-east of London, east-southeast of Cambridge and south of Norwich. Kelvin Davis (footballer)
Kelvin Geoffrey Davis (born 29 September 1976) is an English former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He began his career with Luton Town as a youth player in 1991 and remained there until 1999. Davis later played for Wimbledon, Ipswich Town and Sunderland before moving to Southampton in 2006. Davis was team captain of Southampton from 2009 to 2012, after which he became club captain. From July 2016 to December 2017, Davis had been working as part of the support staff at Southampton. On 29 December 2017, Davis became Senior First Team coach following the resignation of Eric Black the previous week until parting ways with Southampton in 2022. Richard Naylor
Richard Alan Naylor (born 28 February 1977) is an English former footballer who played as a centre-back. Naylor started his career at Ipswich Town, where he played as a striker up until he was moved to centre-back by Joe Royle in 2002; he continued to play as a centre-back ever since. After his retirement from professional football he was Under 18's manager of Leeds United, he also included a brief spell as Leeds' caretaker assistant manager after the sacking of Neil Warnock in 2013. Jermaine Malaki Wright (born 21 October 1975 in Greenwich) is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder and could also operate as a defender. Football career Wright started his career at Millwall as a trainee, but moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1994. Alun Armstrong (footballer)
Alun Armstrong (born 22 February 1975) is an English former professional footballer and the current manager of National League North club Darlington. During his playing career, Armstrong operated primarily as a forward. Pablo González Couñago (born 9 August 1979) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a striker. Thomas William Miller (born 8 January 1979) is an English professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was most recently the manager of National League North club Spennymoor Town. James Magilton (born 6 May 1969) is a Northern Irish football manager and former professional player. As a player, he was a midfielder who notably played in the Premier League for Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town. He started his playing career in the Irish League with Distillery then signed for Liverpool but would fail to make an appearance. Matthew Stephen Elliott (born 1 November 1968) is a former professional footballer, most notably as a defender for Leicester City. Born in England, he was never selected to play for them on an international level; he instead played for the Scotland national team, for whom he was eligible due to his Scottish grandmother. Drissa Diallo
Drissa Diallo (born 4 January 1973 in Mauritania) is a Guinean former professional footballer who most recently played for Cheltenham Town. Although he holds French nationality, he represented Guinea on eight occasions at international level. Career After playing for Sedan, Liege and Denize, Diallo signed for KV Mechelen in 1998. In 2003 Mechelen went into liquidation and Diallo was released on a free transfer. He promptly moved to England and signed for Burnley.
