Dutch Reformed Church
The Dutch Reformed Church (, abbreviated NHK) was the largest Christian denomination in the Netherlands from the onset of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century until 1930. It was the original denomination of the Dutch Royal Family and the foremost Protestant denomination until 2004. It was the larger of the two major Reformed denominations, after the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (''Gereformeerde kerk'') was founded in 1892. It spread to the United States, South Africa, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, and various other world regions through Dutch colonization. Watergraafsmeer
The Watergraafsmeer is a polder in the Netherlands. It was reclaimed in 1629. In the 17th and 18th centuries, there were many buitenplaatsen in the Watergraafsmeer, though nowadays only one, Frankendael, remains. Since 1921, the Watergraafsmeer is part of the city of Amsterdam and its rural character has all but disappeared. It is located in the borough of Amsterdam-Oost. The most important streets in the Watergraafsmeer are the Middenweg and the Kruislaan. Mieke Pullen
Mieke Pullen née ''Hombergen'' (14 July 1957 – 28 January 2003) was a Dutch long-distance runner who competed mainly in marathon races. She ran thirty races over the distance in her career, winning races in Eindhoven Marathon, Eindhoven, Amsterdam Marathon, Amsterdam, Enschede Marathon, Enschede and Singapore Marathon, Singapore. She was a four-time Dutch champion over the distance. She was killed in a traffic accident while training in Haaren, North Brabant, Haaren, aged 45. Career Pullen started her running career relatively late in life, beginning to take athletics (sport), athletics seriously at the age of thirty. In spite of this, she had become a top level runner by 1988, when she came third in the Zevenheuvelenloop race and made her marathon debut over at the Eindhoven Marathon, coming fifth. Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange (Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria; born 7 December 2003) is the heir apparent to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which consists of the constituent countries of Aruba, Curaçao, the Netherlands, and Sint Maarten. Amsterdam Marathon
The Amsterdam Marathon (branded TCS Amsterdam Marathon for sponsorship reasons) is an annual marathon (42.195 km) in Amsterdam in the Netherlands since 1975. The road race has a Platinum Label from World Athletics. During the event, there are also a half marathon race (21.097 km) and an 8 km race in the program. History The first marathon in Amsterdam was held on 5 August 1928, during the 1928 Summer Olympics. It was won by Boughera El Ouafi in 2:32:57. After the Olympics there were no marathons in Amsterdam until 1975. Since that year the marathon was held annually, with the exception of 1978 and 2020. William Kipsang
William Rop Kipsang (born 26 June 1977) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. He has won marathons in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Beirut and Seoul. His personal best for the event is 2:05:49 hours. His best performance was on 13 April 2008, winning the Rotterdam Marathon with a new course record and PR of 2:05:49. On 15 April 2007 he was placed third in this race, running in difficult circumstances due to the warm weather. He has previously won the Amsterdam Marathon (2003), the Egmond Half Marathon (2004) and the Dam tot Damloop 10 mile race (2005). In 2006 he earned seventh place in the New York City Marathon. Kipsang did not compete in the marathon for two years between 2008 and 2010, and his comeback at the Seoul International Marathon was a slow 2:24:11 run for 33rd place – a time only two seconds quicker than the women's winner that year. The 2002–03 KNVB Cup was the 85th edition of the tournament. The competition started on 6 August 2002 and the final was played on 1 June 2003.
