2003 World Indoor Championships In Athletics
The 9th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics were held in the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, UK from 14 to 16 March 2003. It was the first time the Championships had been held in the UK. Jamie Baulch
James Stephen Baulch (born 3 May 1973) is a retired Welsh sprint athlete and television presenter. He won the 400 metres gold medal at the 1999 World Indoor Championships. As a member of British 4 × 400 metres relay teams, he won a gold medal at the 1997 World Championships, and silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games. He represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games where he won an individual silver and a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 m relay. Athletics career Early career Baulch made his debut for the GB & NI team at a Junior International in Salamanca, Spain, in 1991, winning the 200m and breaking the Welsh record in that race. Baulch then changed his distance preference becoming a 400 metres specialist. Leroy Colquhoun
Leroy Colquhoun (born 1 March 1980) is a Jamaican sprinter. He won a silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2003 IAAF World Indoor Championships and a gold medal in the same event at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Colquhoun ran track collegiately at Louisiana State University. Before starting his sprinting career he attended trials for the Jamaica national bobsled team. Allen Johnson
Allen Kenneth Johnson (born March 1, 1971) is an American former hurdling athlete who won the gold medal in the 110 metre hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a four-time world champion. Born in Washington, D.C., an all-round athlete, Johnson attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and excelled at high jump, long jump and decathlon as well as hurdles. He was the 1992 NCAA Indoor Champion for 55 meter hurdles but did not win the outdoor championship. Luke Kipkosgei (born 27 November 1975 in Iten) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who is most known for his track running over 3000 metres and 5000 metres. His first major medals came in 1998: he took the 5000 metres gold medal at the 1998 Goodwill Games and then a silver medal behind Haile Gebrselassie over 3000 m at the 1998 IAAF Grand Prix Final. Bernard Kipchirchir Lagat (born December 12, 1974) is a Kenyan-American middle and long-distance runner. Lagat was born in Kapsabet, Kenya. Prior to his change of domicile to the US, Lagat had an extensive competitive career representing his native country. He is the American record holder in the 1500 m and mile run indoors, as well as the 1500 m and 3000 m outdoors, and is the Kenyan record holder at 1500 m outdoors.
