2003 UK Open Darts
The 2003 Sky Bet UK Open was the first edition of the UK Open darts tournament organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The tournament was held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton, England between 30 May–1 June 2003. The tournament was unique as it had no Seed (sports), seeding, and was won by Phil Taylor (darts player), Phil Taylor who defeated Shayne Burgess in the final 18–8 in legs. Macron Stadium
The University of Bolton Stadium is the home ground of Bolton Wanderers F.C. in Horwich, Greater Manchester, England. Opening in 1997, it was named the Reebok Stadium, after club sponsors Reebok. In 2014, Bolton Wanderers signed a naming rights deal with Italian sportswear company Macron. It was renamed the University of Bolton Stadium in 2018. In UEFA matches, it is called Bolton Wanderers Stadium due to UEFA regulations on sponsorship. A hotel forms part of the stadium and some of the rooms offer views of the pitch. Mark Ian "Tommo" Thomson (born 5 August 1963 in Swindon, Wiltshire) is a former English professional darts player who played in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career From Swindon, Wiltshire. Thomson played in six stages on the UK Open, reaching the last 8, but lost to Tom Wilson of England in 2003 and Mark Walsh of England in 2005. Keith Rooney (born 13 February 1981) is a former Irish professional darts player who has played in Professional Darts Corporation events. Known as Titanium, Rooney qualified for the 2005 World Grand Prix, where he defeated James Wade in the first round, before losing to Dennis Priestley in the second round.
