2003 U.S. Women's Open
The 2003 U.S. Women's Open was the 58th U.S. Women's Open, held July 3–7 at the Witch Hollow course of Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club near North Plains, Oregon, northwest of Portland. Hilary Lunke won her only major (and only LPGA) title in an 18-hole Monday playoff over Angela Stanford and Kelly Robbins, and became the first qualifier to win the championship. The three Americans finished the fourth round at 283 (−1), one stroke ahead of two-time champion Annika Sörenstam, who bogeyed the par-5 72nd hole after putting her tee shot in the fairway. The last playoff was five years earlier in 1998 and it had been sixteen years since three players were involved. In the playoff round, all three players birdied the final (90th) hole, and Lunke clinched the title by one stroke over Stanford. Michele Redman
Michele Redman (born April 15, 1965) is an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour from 1992 through 2011. She is currently the women's golf coach at the University of Minnesota. Redman was born in Zanesville, Ohio. She attended Zanesville High School, where she played on the varsity boys' golf team. She attended Indiana University, where she won four events, was named All-American twice and All-Big Ten four times. She was the Big Ten Conference champion in 1987. Redman played on the Futures Tour from 1988 to 1991, winning three times in 1991. Redman played on the LPGA Tour from 1992 through 2011 and had two victories: the 1997 JAL Big Apple Classic and the 2000 First Union Betsy King Classic. Aree Song ( ko, 송아리), (born Aree Wongluekiet 1 May 1986) is a Korean professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. Her father is South Korean and her mother is Thai. She was born in Bangkok, Thailand. She is a South Korean citizen, and has represented Thailand in junior team competition, but she has spent much of her life in the United States. Giulia Sergas
Giulia Sergas (born 26 December 1979) is an Italian professional golfer, currently playing on both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Early life Sergas was born in Trieste in northern Italy. She took up golf at the age of nine at Golf Club Trieste under the coaching of Ezio Pavan. She attended the Linguistic College. Morgan Pressel
Morgan Pressel (born May 23, 1988) is an American professional golfer and golf commentator who played on the LPGA Tour. In 2001, as a 12-year-old, she became the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open. She was the 2005 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Player of the Year, and won the 2006 AJGA Nancy Lopez Award. She turned pro at age 17, and is the youngest-ever winner of a modern LPGA major championship, when at age 18 she won the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship (now known as the ANA Inspiration) and vaulted to a career-high fourth in the world rankings. Rosie Jones (golfer)
Rosie Jones (born November 13, 1959) is an American professional golfer, with 13 LPGA Tour career victories and nearly $8.4 million in tournament earnings. Amateur career Jones was born in Santa Ana, California. In her amateur career, she was a three time New Mexico Junior Champion (1974–76) and won the New Mexico State Championship in 1979. Jones attended Ohio State University where in 1981 she was an AIAW All-American. Juli Inkster (born Juli Simpson; June 24, 1960) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. With a professional career spanning 29 years to date, Inkster's 31 wins rank her second in wins among all active players on the LPGA Tour; she has over $14 million in career earnings. Donna Andrews (golfer)
Donna Andrews (born April 12, 1967) is an American professional golfer. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, Andrews played college golf at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and won the North and South Women's Amateur at Pinehurst in 1988. Andrews' rookie season on the LPGA Tour was 1990; she won six titles between 1993 and 1998, including a major championship, the 1994 Nabisco Dinah Shore, won with a birdie on the final hole. Mhairi McKay
Mhairi McKay (born 18 April 1975) is a Scottish professional golfer who played mainly on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and was also a member of the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career McKay was born in Glasgow. She is a former pupil of Fernhill School and was introduced to golf by her parents.
