2003 NLL Season
The 2003 National Lacrosse League season is the 17th season in the NLL that began on December 27, 2002, and concluded with the championship game on May 3, 2003. In 2003, the NLL became the first major men's sports league in North America to feature a woman playing in a regular-season game. Ginny Capicchioni, a stand-out goaltender at Sacred Heart University, was signed by the New Jersey Storm as their third-string goaltender. She dressed for three games, though only played in one. Capicchioni collected one loose ball and made six saves while allowing 7 goals in 11 minutes of play. Team movement 2003 saw the Montreal Express suspend operations, and also saw the Washington Power move to Colorado, where even they were unprepared for the warm welcome they received in Denver. The franchise had drawn small crowds in Washington as well as in Pittsburgh and Baltimore before that, but averaged more than 16,000 fans per game in 2003, second in the league only to Toronto. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the National Hockey League, NHL and National Basketball Association, NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. Jim Moss
Jim Moss (born March 3, 1977 in Toronto, Ontario) is a former professional lacrosse player. Moss was named the National Lacrosse League's Defensive Player of the Year in 2003. Entered into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 as well as the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame as a member of Team Canada in 2007. Moss represented Team Canada in three sports (Ice Hockey, Field Lacrosse, Indoor Lacrosse) winning gold, silver, and bronze medals in international competition and is a winner of Canada's historic Mann Cup. Darris Kilgour
Darris Kilgour is a former professional lacrosse player and coach. Kilgour currently is the head coach of the Seneca WarChiefs ( FNJBLL). He is from the Tuscarora Indian Reservation near Lewiston New York. Player Kilgour played for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League for eight seasons, before finishing his playing career with the Rochester Knighthawks and Albany Attack. As a player, he won three championships with the Bandits, and is the all-time team leader in penalty minutes and faceoffs. Kilgour's number '43' was retired by the Bandits in March 2001, making him the first player to have his number retired by an NLL team. He was inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame in 2007. Brian Langtry
Brian Langtry (born May 16, 1976) is a former lacrosse player for the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League and the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse. Langtry was born in Massapequa, NY, and played NCAA lacrosse for Hofstra University. NLL Langtry began his NLL career with the New York Saints in 2000, but only played three games. He didn't play again until 2003 with the Mammoth, and was named the NLL Rookie of the Year. He won the Champion's Cup with the Mammoth in 2006. In 2003, Langtry scored the game-winning goal in the Mammoth's first-ever game, a 13-12 double-overtime victory over the Toronto Rock. In the 2007 National Lacrosse League expansion draft, Langtry was selected by the expansion Boston Blazers, but was immediately traded back to the Mammoth.
