2003 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 2003 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 8–12 July at Frankfurter Golf Club in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It was the 23rd women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting Frankfurter Golf Club, one of the oldest golf clubs in Germany, was founded in 1913. The course, situated in Niederrad, 5 kilometres west of the city center of Frankfurt am Main, was designed by Harry Colt and opened in 1927. The club had previously hosted twelve editions of the German Open during the period 1938–1989, a European Tour tournament since the tour was founded in 1972. The championship course was set up with par 72. Format All participating teams played two qualification rounds of stroke-play with six players, counted the five best scores for each team. Harry Colt
Henry Shapland "Harry" Colt (4 August 1869 – 21 November 1951) was a golf course architect born in Highgate, England. He worked predominantly with Charles Alison, John Morrison, and Alister MacKenzie, in 1928 forming Colt, Alison & Morrison Ltd. He participated in the design or redesign of over 300 golf courses (115 on his own) in all six inhabited continents, including those at Wentworth Club, Sunningdale, Muirfield, Royal Portrush, and Royal Liverpool. Colt teamed up with George Crump in 1918 to design Pine Valley Golf Club, which is ranked as the #1 golf course in the United States, by ''Golf'' magazine (2017–18 ranking of the Top 100 Courses in the U.S.) and ''Golf Digest'' (2019–20 ranking of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses). Danielle Masters
Danielle Louise Masters (born 2 March 1983) is an English professional golfer on the Ladies European Tour. She turned pro 1 June 2004. Masters is from Bearsted in Kent, England. Masters has been playing on the European tour since 2004 and enjoyed two full successful seasons playing across the world, mainly in Europe. On her third year after earning well in year 1 and an increased amount in year 2, in mid-2008 at BMW Ladies Italian Open in Argentario Golf Resort & Spa she had to pull out of the event due to a back injury. Due to the severity of the injury she was unable to play again that season. In an attempt to get back playing as soon as possible, Masters saw a number of experts, ranging from sports science injury specialists to chiropractic physicians, none of whom could offer much help. Emma Victoria (Duggleby) Brown (born 5 October 1971) is an English amateur golfer. She was born Emma Duggleby, her married name is Brown. She won the British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship in 1994 and played in three Curtis Cup matches, in 2000, 2002 and 2004. Early life and career Emma was born to golfing parents. She began playing golf at the age of 12 and at 17 she had a handicap of 2 and soon reached scratch. Julie Tvede
Julie Tvede (born 21 May 1980) is a Danish professional golfer who played on the LPGA Futures Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Tvede was member of the Danish national team from 1998 to 2004. She was runner-up in the 2000 and 2001 Danish National Championship and she represented Denmark at the Espirito Santo Trophy in 2002 with Mette Buus and Lisa Holm Sørensen. Lisa Holm Sørensen (born 29 September 1982) is a retired Danish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and won the Ladies Finnish Masters. Career Sørensen won her first LET event at the 2005 Ladies Finnish Masters, held at Helsinki Golf Club. Match Play
Match play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents; as opposed to stroke play, in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In match play the winner is the player, or team, with the most points at the end of play. Although most professional tournaments are played using the stroke play scoring system, there are, or have been, some exceptions, for example the WGC Match Play and the Volvo World Match Play Championship, and most team events, for example the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, all of which are in match play format.
