Brisbane Lions
The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. The Lions are one of the most successful AFL club of the 2000s, appearing in four consecutive Grand Finals from 2001 to 2004 and winning three premierships ( 2001, 2002, 2003). Stadium Australia, currently known as Accor Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a multi-purpose stadium located in the Sydney Olympic Park, in Sydney, Australia. The stadium, which in Australia is sometimes referred to as Sydney Olympic Stadium, Homebush Stadium or simply the Olympic Stadium, was completed in March 1999 at a cost of A$690 million to host the 2000 Summer Olympics. Jonathan Brown (born 29 October 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer and radio presenter. Jason Dean Akermanis (born 24 February 1977) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is a Brownlow Medallist and triple premiership player who played for the Brisbane Bears, Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs. Early life Akermanis was born in Mildura, Victoria to a Canadian father John Akermanis, and an Australian mother Shona Carswell, but moved to Brisbane at 9 years of age. Ashley McGrath
Ashley Vernon McGrath (born 20 May 1983) is a retired indigenous Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League. Selected in the 2000 AFL Draft with the thirteenth pick overall, the Brisbane Lions recruited the talented forward, where he made his AFL debut late in 2001. He continued to establish himself in the side and by 2003, was a regular member, being part of the Lions' third straight AFL premiership. Heath Scotland (born 21 July 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He played for Collingwood and Carlton, appearing in two AFL Grand Finals during his time with Collingwood. He was awarded the Best and Fairest for the Carlton Football Club in 2012. Jason Cloke (born 6 May 1982) is an Australian rules footballer, who played in the Australian Football League with the Collingwood Football Club. Career Cloke played his junior football for Park Orchards in the Eastern Junior Football League, and played TAC Cup football for the Eastern Ranges. Cloke's father, David had played 219 games for and 114 games for in the 1970s and 1980s; this meant that Cloke was eligible to be drafted by either team under the Father-Son Rule. James Clement
James Clement (born 4 September 1976) is a former professional Australian rules footballer for Collingwood and Fremantle in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected in the All-Australian Team on two occasions, represented Australia in the International Rules Series and was vice-captain of Collingwood. Fremantle career From South Fremantle, the Fremantle Dockers picked Clement up as a zone selection in the 1995 National Draft. Ben Johnson (born 5 April 1981) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Football career Originally from the former St.Mary's, Johnson was snapped up late in the 1999 AFL Draft, no.62 overall. He started his career with a bang, kicking 3 goals on debut for the Magpies, however, he settled as most first-year players and struggled to play-out in consistent fashion, being dropped mid-season. Anthony Rocca (born 15 August 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who has played with the Sydney Swans and Collingwood in the Australian Football League.
