2003 Barber Dodge Pro Series
The 2003 Barber Dodge Pro Series season was the eighteenth and final season of the series. All races were run in support of the 2003 CART World Series. The season consisted of ten races of which four were run abroad, one in Mexico and three in Canada. Leonardo Maia won the championship and Colin Fleming won the Rookie of the Year title. This was the first, and only, time the series raced in Mexico. Barber Dodge Pro Series
The Barber Dodge Pro Series was a professional open-wheel auto racing series from 1986 to 2003. It was one of the first professional spec series for open-wheel racecars in North America. The races were primarily on road and street courses in North America, although the schedule did sometimes include a few ovals. This series is often confused with Skip Barber's long-standing amateur racing series which has always used different and significantly less powerful cars. The amateur series currently has regional and national components. The Barber Pro Series was a spec series, in which all cars were identically prepared by Skip Barber Racing. From its beginning in 1986 to 1994, the series was known as the Barber Saab Pro Series; the spec car was a tube-frame Mondiale chassis (basically a Formula Ford 2000 design) powered by a turbocharged 16-valve Saab 16v engine. Juan Manuel Polar (born 24 September 1983 in Lima is a racing driver from Peru. He has previously competed in the Indy Lights, Spanish Formula Three Championship and Formula Renault among other series. Career Polar started is autoracing career in 2000 in the Skip Barber Formula Dodge Southern Race Series. At Sebring International Raceway the Peruvian won his first ever autorace. He eventually ran ten races in the series winning four races and he ended on the podium eight times. The Peruvian driver eventually classified seventh in the championship. In 2001 Polar competed in the inaugural Formula Dodge National Championship. At Sebring Polar won his only race in the series. He beat Júlio Campos and A. J. Allmendinger. Alfred Richard Unser (born October 23, 1982) is an American former professional race car driver. Unser has competed in the Indy Lights series and Toyota Atlantics Championship. He is the fourth generation of the famous Unser family. Al Richard Unser is the son of Al Unser Jr., and grandson of Al Unser Sr. Due to his family connections in auto racing, he has sometimes been known as "Al Unser III" or "Just Al." He is currently a Realtor in Albuquerque at Coldwell Banker Legacy. Nelson Philippe
Nelson Philippe (born July 23, 1986 in Valence, Drôme) is a French race car driver. Career Early career Philippe raced go-karts from 1998-2002. In 2003, he raced in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, finishing the season with one podium, and four top five finishes. With just one year of experience in cars, Philippe tested with two Champ Car teams, before signing with Paul Gentilozzi's Rocketsports Racing team. At 17, he became the youngest driver to ever race in Champ Car. Through the first five races of the 2004 season, Philippe generally stayed out of trouble but usually ran at the back of the pack. Philippe was abruptly dropped from the Rocketsports team before the Molson Indy Toronto. After sitting out several races, Philippe rejoined the series later in the year for Mi-Jack Conquest Racing.
