2003 America’s Cup
The 31st America's Cup was contested between the holder, Team New Zealand, and the winner of the 2003 Louis Vuitton Cup, Alinghi. Build Up The 2002–2003 Louis Vuitton Cup, held in the Hauraki Gulf in Auckland, New Zealand saw nine teams from six countries staging 120 races over five months to select a challenger for the America's Cup. Due to sponsorship rules in force at the time, the boats were not allowed to be named after their sponsors which affected only one challenger. The Oracle boat was referenced by its sail number USA-76 because the team did not give the boat a name. Grant Loretz is a New Zealand sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups. Born in Tokoroa, Loretz joined New Zealand Challenge, working as a sail-maker for the 1987 Louis Vuitton Cup. At the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup he sailed on ''NZL-20'' as a trimmer. During the 1995 Louis Vuitton Cup he was a part of Tag Heuer Challenge, sailing on ''NZL-39''. James Dagg is a New Zealand sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups. Dagg joined Team New Zealand in 1996 as a trimmer. He was part of their 2000 America's Cup defence. He sailed in their 2003 America's Cup loss and remained with the team for their 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup victory and 2007 America's Cup loss. Adam Beashel
Adam Beashel is an Australian sailor. He is best known for being part of Team New Zealand at the 2003 America's Cup and strategist for Emirates Team New Zealand at the 2007 America's Cup. Beashel was part of the '' oneAustralia'' team that came second in the 1995 Louis Vuitton Cup. He is also a 49er sailor. Together with Teague Czislowski, he came second in that class at the 1999 World Championships to Chris Nicholson and Ed Smyth. Peter Evans (born 1961) is a New Zealand sailor (sport), sailor who has competed in two Olympic Games and in six America's Cup campaigns. Early years Evans was born in 1961 and grew up in Devonport, New Zealand, Devonport. He is a member of the Wakatere Boating Club. Bertrand Pacé
Bertrand Pacé (born 15 August 1961 in Petite-Synthe) is a French sailor competing in match racing. He won the 1994 World Match Racing Championships in La Rochelle, France. Pacé was a navigator for the Challenge Kis France at the 1987 Louis Vuitton Cup and a backup helmsman and navigator at the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup. At the 1995 Louis Vuitton Cup, Pacé was again part of the French challenge. He was promoted to skipper for the team's challenge at the 2000 Louis Vuitton Cup. Pacé joined Team New Zealand for the unsuccessful defence of the 2003 America's Cup. Hamish Pepper
Hamish Pepper (born 13 May 1971) is a New Zealand sailor. He competed at the 1996, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Pepper was born in Auckland and attended Westlake Boys High School. Sailing in a Laser, Pepper finished 10th at the 1996 Olympics and 7th in 2004. Pepper then moved to the Star and sailed with Carl Williams at the 2008 Olympics, finishing 9th. Pepper and Jim Turner finished 12th at the 2012 Olympics. Tom Schnackenberg
Thomas William Schnackenberg (born 11 May 1945) is a New Zealand sailor and yacht designer best known for his involvement with the America's Cup. He was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame in 2000. Schnackenberg attended Auckland Grammar School before gaining a masters in physics from the University of Auckland and enrolling for a Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia. Having served in the Auckland Grammar School Sea Cadets, Schnackenberg joined the RNZNVR, later acquiring a commission as a Reserve officer at HMNZS Ngapona. Mike Drummond is a New Zealand sailor and yacht designer who is a member of the America's Cup Hall of Fame. Drummond was born in Christchurch and joined New Zealand Challenge before the 1987 America's Cup and he then helped to design, and sail on, '' KZ 1'' during the 1988 America's Cup.
