During the 2002–03 English football season, Swansea City competed in the Football League Third Division. Season summary Swansea narrowly avoided relegation from the Football League, just over 20 years after coming sixth in the top flight, with a final 21st-place finish. Swansea were in danger of relegation, but won their final game of the season to assure their status as a Football League club. Swansea fared little better in the domestic cups, being knocked out in the first round of both the FA Cup (by Third Division York City) and League Cup (by First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers). Brian Flynn (footballer)
Brian Flynn (born 12 October 1955) is a Welsh former footballer and manager. As a player, he was a Welsh international, who played as a midfielder. Flynn managed the Wales national under-21 football team until May 2012, coming close to taking Wales to their first major championship in 57 years. On 13 September 2010, Flynn was confirmed caretaker manager of the Wales national football team after John Toshack stepped down, prior to the appointment of Gary Speed. Playing career Flynn started his career with Burnley, and made his league debut for the club in the 1973–74 season, when it was in the old First Division. After 120 league appearances he transferred to Leeds United in November 1977. He moved back to Burnley in November 1982 (after an earlier brief loan spell) and, after 80 more league games, Flynn moved to Cardiff City in November 1984. Michael Howard (footballer, Born 1978)
Michael Anthony Howard (born 2 December 1978) is an English footballer who plays as a defender who plays for Afan Lido. Career Born in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Howard initially started his career with Liverpool before being signed as a trainee by Tranmere Rovers. He was signed by Jim Harvey for Morecambe from Swansea City, where he had been a regular for 6 seasons, at the start of the 2004–05 season. His consistent performances at left-back saw him win the 'Junior Red of the Year' award at the award ceremony at the end of the 2005–06 season. This award was voted for by members of the Morecambe Junior Reds Supporters' Club. In January 2008, Howard joined Oxford United on a short-term loan deal. John Nelson Williams (born 11 May 1968) is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward from 1990 until 2009. He notably played in the Premier League for Coventry City. Terry Evans (footballer Born 1976)
Terence Evans (born 8 January 1976) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Evans began his career as a youth team member at Cardiff City. After completing a two-year YTS scheme, he made his professional debut in a 2–1 defeat to Bristol Rovers in January 1994 and made a handful of appearances during the season, including earning under 21 caps for Wales. He switched to the Welsh Premier League to play for Barry Town and was part of the side that found some success in European football. In 2001, he returned to The Football League with Swansea City where, after beginning the season on the bench, he established himself in the first team, making 16 appearances in all competitions, before his season was ended in February 2002 when he suffered a double fracture in his jaw after being struck by a deliberate elbow thrown by David Partridge during a match against Leyton Orient on 9 February 2002. Kevin Nugent (footballer)
Kevin Patrick Nugent (born 10 April 1969) is an English professional football manager and former player. He is the manager of the Millwall U23 team. Playing career Nugent began his career at Leyton Orient in the 1980s and made over 100 appearances in all competitions for the club, spending time on loan at Cork City during the 1988–89 season. After finishing the 1991–92 season as the club's top scorer, he signed for Plymouth Argyle in March 1992 for a transfer fee of £200,000 and made over 100 appearances for Plymouth. In September 1995, he moved to Bristol City for a fee of £75,000, although first-team opportunities were more limited. Nugent signed for Cardiff City in June 1997 for a transfer fee of £65,000.
