First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. A significant omission of the ICC ruling was any attempt to define first-class cricket retrospectively. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. A batter who ''retires hurt'' is considered not out; an uninjured batter who retires (rare) is considered ''retired out''. Ashley Noffke
Ashley Allan Noffke (born 30 April 1977) is a former Australian professional cricketer who played domestically for Queensland (1998–2009) and Western Australia (2009–2010). Noffke, who primarily played as a right-arm fast-medium bowler, also made three appearances for the Australian national side. Noffke made his first-class debut on 27 March 1999 for the Australian Cricket Academy XI against the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy XI in Harare. In a match in which the Australians dominated, Noffke claimed 1/5 off 2 overs in the first innings and 2/10 off 6 overs in the second. On 27 January 2000, Noffke made his maiden first-class appearance for Queensland against Victoria. Michael Clark (sportsman)
Michael Wayne Clark (born 31 March 1978) is an Australian former cricketer and Australian rules footballer. Football career Clark had shoulder problems when he played with Swan Districts in 1996, and in 1997 required a knee reconstruction. The son of former Australian Test cricketer Wayne Clark, he pursued a career in the Australian Football League with the Fremantle Dockers. Drafted in the 1997 AFL Draft, he played only 1 game with the Dockers in 1999. He was delisted at the end of that year to be re-drafted by the Collingwood Football Club in the 1999 AFL Draft, but did not manage a senior game with the club, being delisted during the 2000 season after fracturing his fibula. Michael Kasprowicz
Michael Scott Kasprowicz (born 10 February 1972) is a former Australian international cricketer, who played all formats of the game. He is a right arm fast bowler. He represented Queensland and played in the English county scene at first class level. Personal life A past student of Brisbane State High School, Kasprowicz is the older brother of former professional rugby union player Simon Kasprowicz. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Queensland. Kasprowicz is also a father to three children. Christopher John Llewellyn Rogers (born 31 August 1977) is a former Australian cricketer who played for the Australian national team. Rogers is a left-handed opening batsman. He spent ten years playing for Western Australia, before moving to play for Victoria in 2008. He played county cricket in England for ten years representing five first-class teams: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Middlesex and Somerset. Rogers holds the record for most half centuries in consecutive innings. Despite being colour blind and short sighted, he maintained a first-class average of nearly 50, yet he did not play for the Australia national cricket team until the age of 30, when he was selected for a single Test match in 2008. Michael Clarke (cricketer)
Michael John Clarke (born 2 April 1981) is an Australian former cricketer. He was captain of the Australian cricket team in both Test and One Day International (ODI) between 2011 and 2015, leading Australia to victory in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also served as captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) side between 2007 and 2010. He is regarded as one of the best batsmen of his generation. Nicknamed "Pup", Clarke was a right-handed middle-order batsman, an occasional left-arm orthodox spin bowler and also a slip catcher. He represented New South Wales at a domestic level. Steve Davis (umpire)
Stephen James Davis (born 9 April 1952) is a former Australian Test cricket match umpire, from South Australia. He was appointed to the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires in April 2008. Umpiring career Davis' first Test match was between Australia and New Zealand at Hobart on 27 November to 1 December 1997, a rain-affected match in which the last two New Zealand batsman held on to deny victory to Australia. Since 2002 both umpires in Test matches have been appointed from non-participating nations, by the International Cricket Council. This resulted in his last Test match involving Australia to be against New Zealand at Hobart on 22 November to 26 November 2001, a rain-affected draw. Peter Douglas Parker (born 20 July 1959) is an Australian Test cricket match umpire. He was member of the International Panel of ICC Umpires between 2003 and 2008. Playing career Parker played junior representative cricket for Queensland before playing in Brisbane Grade Cricket. He gave up playing when he broke his thumb twice in a season.
