2002–03 Scottish Inter-District Championship
The 2002–03 Scottish Inter-District Championship was a rugby union competition for Scotland's professional district teams. With the re-emergence of the Border Reivers professional team and the collapse of the Welsh-Scottish League to make way for a shortened Celtic League, the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) reinstated the Scottish Inter-District Championship for the professional sides. Glasgow, Borders and Edinburgh then fought it out in a renamed Pro Cup sponsored by Bank of Scotland. The Bank of Scotland Pro Cup lasted one year. When the Celtic League was expanded the following year the SRU realised that there was no room in the schedule for a separate Scottish Inter-District Championship. This was despite both sponsor and fans happiness with the return of a national tournament. Edinburgh Rugby
Edinburgh Rugby (formerly Edinburgh Reivers, Edinburgh Gunners) is one of the two professional rugby union teams from Scotland. The club competes in the United Rugby Championship, along with the Glasgow Warriors, its oldest rival. Edinburgh plays most of its home games at Edinburgh Rugby Stadium. The original Edinburgh District team played the first ever inter-district match against Glasgow District in 1872, winning the match 3–0. The amateur district team was reformed with professionalism, as Edinburgh Rugby, in 1996 to compete in the Heineken Cup, its best performance coming in the 2011–12 season, when the club reached the semi-final but lost out narrowly to Ulster, 22–19. Netherdale
Netherdale is a sports complex in Galashiels, Scottish Borders, consisting of two adjacent stadiums used for rugby union and football. The rugby ground is the home of Gala RFC and was formerly used by the professional Border Reivers team. It hosted one match of the 1999 Rugby World Cup. It has also occasionally been used for rugby league matches. The football ground is home to Gala Fairydean Rovers and has a Category A listed grandstand. Overview The Netherdale complex is located on Nether Road towards the east end of Galashiels, near the River Tweed. Andrew Henderson (rugby Union)
Andrew Roger Henderson (born 3 February 1980) is a Scottish rugby union footballer who played at centre; who was capped 53 times and scored eight tries for Scotland. Early life Henderson was born on 3 February 1980 in Chatham in Kent, England. He was educated at Lenzie primary school and Lenzie Academy. Rugby career Henderson played rugby union for West of Scotland at stand off as a youngster before moving to Glasgow Hawks, then Glasgow Warriors where he was preferred at centre. Playing as a centre, apart from one outing on the wing (versus Wales 2004), he made his debut in the blue of Scotland in 2001 as a second-half replacement against Ireland. Rory Kerr
Rory Kerr (born 20 December 1979 in Glasgow) is a former Scotland rugby union international and Glasgow Warriors player. He could play at Fullback or Wing positions. Amateur career He played for various clubs. Starting out at amateur level with his local side Strathendrick he moved on to West of Scotland. He was part of the Glasgow Thistle's squad that went to New Zealand for rugby training. After a season hampered by injury in 2004-05, Kerr left Glasgow Warriors to go to New Zealand. He returned to Scotland in 2006 and then played for amateur side Glasgow Hawks. His career went full circle by going back to his first amateur team Strathendrick in 2011 He still plays for the team. Duncan Hodge
Duncan Hodge (born 18 August 1974) is a Scottish former internationalist rugby union player. He gained 26 full caps for Scotland. Playing career Hodge was born in Dumfries, Scotland and educated at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh. He went on to represent Durham as a student, competing in the same team as Will Greenwood and Tim Stimpson. As a 19-year-old he was given the choice of touring Zimbabwe and South Africa with Scotland's National Cricket team, or playing under-21 national rugby and completing his university exams.. The latter was the only realistic choice for somebody who has already decided that he wanted to focus on a full-time career in sport. Chris Paterson
Christopher Douglas Paterson, MBE (born 30 March 1978) is an ambassador and specialist coach for the Scotland and Edinburgh rugby union teams. He is a former professional rugby union player who played for Scotland and, for the most part of his career, Edinburgh. Paterson is Scotland's record points scorer with 809 points and second most-capped player with 109 caps. He was capable of playing in a range of positions, including fullback, wing and fly-half. Paterson retired from international rugby in December 2011 and as a professional player in May 2012. Mike Blair
Michael Robert Leighton Blair (born 20 April 1981) is a Scottish rugby union coach who was formerly a professional player. He is the head coach of Edinburgh. He played at scrum-half for Glasgow Warriors, Newcastle Falcons, CA Brive and Edinburgh Rugby. He represented the Scotland national side 85 times, as well as the touring with the British & Irish Lions in 2009. He retired from playing on 21 April 2016 aged 35. Brendan Laney
Brendan James Laney, (born 16 November 1973 in Invercargill, New Zealand) is a former professional rugby union player who represented Scotland. Nicknamed "Chainsaw" for the way he cut through defences, he was also a good goal kicker.
