2002–03 Motherwell F.C. Season
The 2002–03 season was Motherwell's 5th season in the Scottish Premier League, and their 18th consecutive season in the top division of Scottish football. They finished the season in bottom of the league, but were spared relegation as Falkirk, the champions of the 2002–03 Scottish First Division, ground did not meet SPL stadium criteria. Motherwell F
Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. Historically in the parish of Dalziel and part of Lanarkshire, Motherwell is the headquarters for North Lanarkshire Council. Geographically the River Clyde separates Motherwell from Hamilton to the west whereas the South Calder Water separates Motherwell from Carfin to the north-east and New Stevenston and Bellshill towards the north. Motherwell is also geographically attached to Wishaw and the two towns form a large urban area in North Lanarkshire, with both towns having similar populations and strong community ties. François Dubourdeau
François Dubourdeau (born 4 December 1980 in Angoulême, Charente) is a French footballer who completed his career by playing for Cincinnati Kings in the USL Second Division. His previous clubs include Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Dundee, Forfar Athletic and Accrington Stanley. Dubourdeau was a fans-favourite at Motherwell after he starred in a 1–0 victory against Rangers. Despite this, Dubourdeau was released in May 2003 by manager Terry Butcher. Paul Quinn (footballer, Born 1985)
Paul Charles Quinn (born 21 July 1985) is a Scottish footballer. His usual position is right back, but he can also play at centre back or on the right wing. Quinn started his career at Motherwell and has also played for Cardiff City, Doncaster Rovers, Ross County (two spells), Aberdeen and Dundee United. Career Motherwell Born in Wishaw, Quinn came through the youth ranks at Motherwell and signed a professional contract with the club on 12 May 2002. In the 2002–03 season, he made his first professional appearance for the club, replacing Brian Dempsie as a substitute during the SPL game against Celtic on 1 December 2002. William Kinniburgh
William Daniel Kinniburgh (born 8 September 1984, in Glasgow) is a retired footballer who was the manager with Gartcairn F. A. Juniors in the West of Scotland Football League. He has played in the Scottish Premier League for Motherwell and the Scottish Football League for Ayr United and Partick Thistle. Career Kinniburgh was a product of the Motherwell youth set-up and made his debut on 12 May 2002, against Dundee. On 15 November 2003, Kinniburgh signed for Ayr United on loan. Kinniburgh joined Partick Thistle on loan in late 2007 and on 18 January 2008 was signed by them for an undisclosed fee. He scored his first and only goal for Partick in a 2–1 defeat to Falkirk in April 2011. He joined Clyde on loan in January 2010, until the end of the season. Brian Dempsie
Brian Dempsie (born 4 February 1983, in Bellshill, Scotland) Scottish former professional footballer, who played for Motherwell. Despite being at the club from 1999 to 2003 he never managed to become a regular first team player and was released when his contract expired. He made his first team debut as a substitute for Martyn Corrigan in a Scottish Cup game against Dundee United on 17 February 2001. Dempsie made his only league appearance on 1 December 2002, starting a match against Celtic before being replaced by Paul Quinn. After leaving Motherwell, Dempsie quit football and became a firefighter with Strathclyde Fire Brigade. David Cowan (born 5 March 1982 in Whitehaven, Cumbria) is an English former footballer who played as a defender for Newcastle United, Motherwell, St Johnstone, Ross County, Gretna, Dundee, Livingston, East Fife and Cowdenbeath. Anthony John Vaughan (born 11 October 1975) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender/midfielder from 1994 until 2006. He played Premier League football for Ipswich Town before moving into the Football League with Manchester City, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Scunthorpe United, Mansfield Town, Barnsley and Stockport County. David William Partridge (born 26 November 1978) is retired professional footballer who played as a central defender. Partridge's club career included spells at Dundee United and Motherwell in Scotland, Bristol City in England and St. Patrick's Athletic in Ireland, as well as several other clubs on loan. Steven Hammell
Steven Hammell (born 18 February 1982) is a Scottish football coach and former player, who manages Scottish Premiership club Motherwell. Hammell played as a left-back for Motherwell in almost 500 league games across two spells, either side of a stint with Southend United. Hammell also played once for Scotland, in 2004. Hammell retired from playing in 2018. After a period as Motherwell's academy director, he became their manager in August 2022.
