2002 World Series By Nissan
The 2002 Telefónica World Series by Nissan was contested over 9 race weekends/18 rounds. In this one-make formula all drivers had to use Dallara chassis (Dallara SN01) and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Nissan engines (Nissan VQ). 10 different teams and 30 different drivers competed. Teams and Drivers Calendar Every second race saw a mandatory pit stop. Race 17 originally scheduled over 17 laps, but abandoned due to rain. Final points standings Driver For every race the points were awarded: 20 points to the winner, 15 for runner-up, 12 for third place, 10 for fourth place, 8 for fifth place, 6 for sixth place, 4 for seventh place, winding down to 1 point for 10th place. Dallara
Dallara is an Italian race car manufacturer, founded by its current President, Gian Paolo Dallara. After working for Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and De Tomaso, in 1972 in his native village of Varano de' Melegari (Parma), Italy he created "Dallara Automobili". Dallara is also the sole manufacturer of racing cars for the IndyCar Series, Indy Lights, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Super Formula Championships. Dallara produces cars for endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona. Ricardo Sperafico
Ricardo Sperafico (born 23 July 1979) is a Brazilian professional racing driver. Career Born in Toledo, he resides in a family of racers, twin brother of Rodrigo, and with two cousins, Alexandre and the late Rafael. He began his career in Europe in Formula Ford. In 1998 and 1999 competed in South American Formula Three and won the Italian Formula 3000 series in 2000, before moving to International F3000 competition the following season. In 2002, Ricardo, Rodrigo and Alexandre all raced in the series with Ricardo finishing the best, 5th, driving for Petrobras Junior Team. He finished runner-up in 2003 before taking 2004 off. In 2005 he competed for the rookie-of-the-year title in Champ Car, driving for Dale Coyne Racing. Damien Faulkner
Damien Faulkner (born 15 February 1977) is an Irish race car driver from Moville County Donegal. Beginning his professional career in Formula Vauxhall Junior in 1995, he competed in the Formula Ford Festival in 1996 and finished 11th. He finished in 3rd place in Vauxhall Junior in 1997 and moved to Formula Palmer Audi in 1998 where he finished sixth and third in series points in his first two seasons. At the end of 1999 he had his first taste of F3000 when he tested for Arden as part of his prize for finishing third in Palmer Audi. In 2000 Faulkner dominated the new European Formula Palmer Audi series taking 6 wins on his way to the title. His prize for winning the series assisted him in finding a seat in the American Champ Car feeder series Indy Lights for 2001. Nicolás Filiberti
Nicolás Filiberti (born April 11, 1977 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine racing driver. He began his career in Formula Honda Argentina in 1994. He then went on to South American Formula Three. In 1998 he traveled to Europe to compete in the Euro Open by Nissan with EC Motorsport, where he finished eighth with a victory. The following year he competed in Italian Formula 3000 with Durango Formula and participated in a round of the International F3000, although he failed to qualify. In 2000 he finished ninth in the SportsRacing World Cup alongside Giovanni Lavaggi. The following year he returned to the International F3000 and Open by Nissan, race partially in both. His last year in Europe was 2002, before returning to Argentina. He was a Formula One test and reserve driver in for the Minardi F1 team, taking part in the Friday practice sessions during Grand Prix weekends, making 17 appearances in all. Ricardo Luiz Zonta (born March 23, 1976) is a Brazilian professional racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series, driving the No. 10 Toyota Corolla E210 for RCM Motorsport. Early career Born in Curitiba, Brazil, Zonta began karting in 1987, winning his first race shortly thereafter. The following year, he was runner-up for the Curitiba Karting Championship, and in 1991, he won the title. Christiano "Tuka" Chiaradia Alcoba Rocha (December 13, 1982 – November 17, 2019) was a Brazilian race car driver. He won numerous karting championships in Brazil from 1996 to 2000. Then moved up to South American Formula 3 Lights. In 2002 he moved to Europe to compete in the World Series by Nissan where he was Ricardo Zonta's teammate. In 2004 he competed in Superfund Euro 3000. In 2005 he was a test driver for A1 Team Brazil in the A1 Grand Prix Series and was named one of the team's race drivers for the 2006-2007 season. In 2008 Tuka was chosen to drive the Flamengo's car in Formula Superleague. Rocha died on November 17, 2019, three days after being involved in a small airplane crash near Bahia, Brazil. Justin Boyd Wilson (31 July 1978 – 24 August 2015) was a British professional open-wheel racing driver who competed in Formula One (F1) in , the Champ Car World Series (CCWS) from 2004 to 2007 and the IndyCar Series from 2008 to 2015. Franck Montagny (born 5 January 1978) is a retired French professional racing driver. He briefly raced for the Super Aguri Formula One team in 2006. Early career Born in Feurs, Loire, Montagny started racing karts there in 1988, winning the cadet class in the French Karting Championship in 1992, and the National 1 class the following year.
