2002 Palmer Cup
The 2002 Palmer Cup was held on 11–12 July 2002 at Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare, Ireland. The United States won –. Format On Thursday, there were four matches of four-ball in the morning, followed by four foursomes matches in the afternoon. Eight singles matches were played on the Friday morning with a further eight more in the afternoon.. In all, 24 matches were played. Each of the 24 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole, each side earned half a point toward their team total. Arnold Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers. From 2018 it has been contested between a United States team and an International team representing the rest of the world. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women. The teams are selected on the basis of nationality, not according to the location of the players' universities. The 2023 event will be held from June 10 to 12 at Laurel Valley Golf Club, near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. History From its foundation in 1997 until 2017 the event was only contested by men. William Harlan Haas (born May 24, 1982) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and won the 2011 FedEx Cup. He is the son of former PGA Tour player Jay Haas. Justin Jeremy Walters (born 23 October 1980) is a South African professional golfer. His mother is English and has played for England in team play. Walters played college golf at Huntingdon College, winning the 2001 NAIA Championship.
