Toni Karjalainen
Toni Karjalainen (born 9 July 1979) is a Finnish professional golfer who formerly played on the European Tour and the Challenge Tour. He was his country's highest ranked male golfer and one of only a few Finnish golfers playing on the leading professional tours when he won twice on the Challenge Tour in 2005 and 2006. Amateur career As an amateur, Karjalainen represented his country at the European Youths' Team Championship, the European Amateur Team Championship and twice at the Eisenhower Trophy. At the 2001 European Amateur Team Championship at Ljunghusen Golf Club in Sweden, team Finland finished a historical high forth (behind England, Ireland and Sweden) in the qualifying stroke-play competition and lost to champions to be Scotland in the quarter-finals. 2003 Challenge Tour
The 2003 Challenge Tour was the 15th season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. The Challenge Tour Rankings were won by Sweden's Johan Edfors. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2003 season. Thomas Nørret
Thomas Nørret (born 17 February 1974) is a Danish professional golfer. Career Nørret turned professional in 1999 at the relatively late age of 25, having spent time studying in both Denmark and the United States. He immediately joined the second-tier Challenge Tour and found instant success, posting two runners-up finishes in his debut season and finishing 25th in the final standings, just outside the automatic qualifiers for the European Tour. Nørret became a Challenge Tour regular over the following seasons, claiming his first win in 2002 at the Volvo Finnish Open after a six-month break, but never improved on his 1999 performance, and in 2009 he took a break from tournament golf to manage young players, returning only for a few events in 2006 and 2009. In 2010 Nørret made a comeback, playing several Challenge Tour events before progressing through qualifying school to reach the European Tour for the first time at the age of 36. Martin Erlandsson
Martin Erlandsson (born 12 February 1974) is a Swedish professional golfer. Career Erlandsson was a top amateur golfer, representing Sweden in the 1996 Eisenhower Trophy before turning professional the following year. He joined the Challenge Tour, where he spent seven seasons before winning his first tournament in 2003 at the Izki Challenge de España and earning promotion to the European Tour for 2004. He spent a further seven seasons at this level, despite finishing three places shy of automatic qualification in his debut season and having to visit qualifying school. However, after a poor 2010 season, Erlandsson returned to the Challenge Tour in 2011. Erlandsson's best finishes on the European Tour are a pair of runner-up placings in the 2005 Celtic Manor Wales Open and the 2009 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. Peter Gustafsson
Peter Gustafsson (born 17 August 1976) is a Swedish professional golfer, born in Orust, Sweden. He turned professional in 1999. After just missing out on automatic graduation from the Challenge Tour in 2004, Gustafsson was medalist at the European Tour Qualifying School to gain his place on the European Tour for 2005. In his début season he was runner up in two tournaments, the Jazztel Open de España en Andalucía and the Omega European Masters, and finished in 46th place on the Order of Merit. Despite that, he missed out on the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award, which went to Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño of Spain. In subsequent seasons, he was unable to consistently produce those same high levels of performance, and lost his place on the European Tour in 2007. The Västerås Open was a golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour that featured on the Challenge Tour 1990–1994. It was played in Västerås, Sweden. The Kentab Open was first played as an amateur tournament at Västerås GC in 1978, and it was added to the Swedish Golf Tour in 1986. Starting in 1998 the tournament began rotating between Västerås GC, Frösåker G&CC, Ängsö GC and Fullerö GC. In 2007 Västerås Municipality became the main sponsor and it was rebranded the ''Västerås Mälarstaden Open''.
