2002 Chicago Bears Season
The 2002 season was the Chicago Bears' 83rd in the National Football League and their fourth under head coach Dick Jauron. The team had hopes of returning to the playoffs after an unexpected 13–3 season the previous year, However, the team failed to improve on that record and finished with a 4–12 record and missed the postseason for the second time in three years. The Bears had problems on both sides of the ball, finishing 27th in the league in points scored and 23rd in points allowed. The Bears began the season 2–0, but things quickly fell apart as the team fell into an eight-game losing streak, including a loss at home to the New England Patriots where, despite having a 27–6 lead at some point, the Patriots came back and won the game late in the fourth quarter. NFC North
The National Football Conference – Northern Division or NFC North is one of the four divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed the "Black and Blue Division" for the rough and tough rivalry games between the teams, it currently has four members: the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings. The NFC North was previously known as the NFC Central from 1970 to 2001. Chris Chandler (American Football)
Christopher Mark Chandler (born October 12, 1965) is a former American football player who played as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons. He played for seven different teams in eight different cities during his NFL career, and is known for leading the Atlanta Falcons to a 14–2 season in 1998 followed by an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIII. Early years Chandler was born on October 12, 1965, in Everett, Washington, the ninth of ten children. His mother died when he was 19, and his father died shortly after he made it to the NFL. Anthony W. Parrish (born November 23, 1975) is a former American football safety that played nine seasons in the National Football League. Walt Harris (cornerback)
Walter Lee Harris (born August 10, 1974) is a former American football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. He played college football for Mississippi State University and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round (13th overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. He played for the Bears for six years and was then signed as a free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2002. He then signed with Washington Redskins in 2004. Blake Weeks Brockermeyer (born April 11, 1973) is a former American football offensive tackle who played for the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos in the NFL. He is currently serving as offensive line coach for the Sea Lions of The Spring League. Christian J. Peter (born October 5, 1972) is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). Peter's younger brother, Jason, also played in the NFL. Early years Peter grew up the oldest of four children in the Locust section of Middletown Township, New Jersey. High school Peter attended Middletown High School South, where he played one year of football as a junior. The team went undefeated and won the state title in 1990. D'Wayne Lavoris Bates (born December 4, 1975 in Augusta, Georgia) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League. Bates played three seasons with the Chicago Bears (1999- 2001) and two with the Minnesota Vikings ( 2002- 2003). Isaiah "Mike" Caldwell, Jr. (born August 31, 1971) is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). James Allen (born March 28, 1975) is a former American football running back in the National Football League. He played college football for Oklahoma. College career Allen attended the University of Oklahoma starting in 1993, and was a true freshman for the Sooners, such as rushing for 102 yards against the Texas Longhorns in a 38–17 victory. He would finish his freshman year with 788 yards rushing and one touchdown. Michael Shane Matthews (born June 1, 1970) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for all or part of fourteen seasons during the 1990s and 2000s.
