2002 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2002 Big Ten men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big Ten Conference and was played from March 7 through March 10, 2002 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The championship was won by Ohio State who defeated Iowa in the championship game. As a result, Ohio State received the Big Ten's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Due to NCAA sanctions, Ohio State was forced to vacate the championship. Seeds All Big Ten schools participated in the tournament. Teams were seeded by conference record, with a tiebreaker system used to seed teams with identical conference records. Seeding for the tournament was determined at the close of the regular conference season. The top five teams received a first round bye. Boban Savović
Slobodan "Boban" Savović (born November 27, 1979) is a Montenegrin former professional basketball player. Early career Raised in Serbia and Montenegro, Savović came to the United States in 1994 and played at East Side High School (Newark, New Jersey), East Side High School in Newark, New Jersey. Brent Darby (June 6, 1981 – December 6, 2011) was an American professional basketball player. He played at the point guard position. College career Darby played college basketball with the Ohio State Buckeyes, between 1999 and 2003, and was a part of two Big Ten champion teams. He averaged 9.6 points per game in his sophomore season, 12.8 points per game as a junior, and 18.3 points and 4.4 assists per game in his senior year, in 2002–03. Luke Recker
Lucas Andrew Recker (born June 17, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. A swingman who primarily played the shooting guard position but could also play small forward, he was one of the top high school prospects of the class of 1997. He played his first two years of college basketball at Indiana before deciding to transfer; after missing one year due to a car accident he went on to play two more years for Iowa. Brian Joshua Cook (born December 4, 1980) is an American former professionalbasketball player. He was drafted out of the University of Illinois with the 24th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2004, Cook was named to the University of Illinois All-Century Team. 2002 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2002 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 12, 2002, and ended with the championship game on April 1 in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. A total of 64 games were played. Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball
The Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team is part of the University of Iowa athletics department. The Hawkeyes have played in 28 NCAA Tournaments, eight NIT Tournaments, won eight Big Ten regular-season conference championships and won the Big Ten tournament three times.
