2002 Belgian Super Cup
The 2002 Belgian Supercup was a football match between the winners of the previous season's Belgian First Division and Belgian Cup competitions. The match was contested by Cup winners Club Brugge, and 2001–02 Belgian First Division champions, Genk on 3 August 2002 at the ground of the league champions as usual, in this case the Fenix stadium. Club Brugge won its 10th Belgian Super Cup, following late goals by Ebrima Ebou Sillah and Olivier De Cock. Bernd Thijs
Bernd Thijs (; born 28 June 1978 in Hasselt, Belgium) is a Belgian retired footballer who played as a midfielder. His former clubs include Borussia Mönchengladbach, Standard Liège, Genk, KAA Gent and Trabzonspor. Thijs played five times with Belgium and was in the team for the 2002 World Cup. Thijs is well known because of his sober style, his ballhandling with both feet and his targeted long shots. He usually played as a defensive midfielder, but was also capable of playing one row further up front. Sometimes he was also posted (as an emergency solution) in defense. Birger Maertens
Birger Maertens (born 28 June 1980) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a centre back. He obtained two caps for the Belgium national team. Club career Club Brugge Born in Bruges, Maertens joined Club Brugge KV in 1994. He played his first game on 9 August 2001 against Icelandic side IA Akranes (4–0) in the UEFA Cup. Heracles Almelo On 25 June 2008, Maertens joined the Dutch side Heracles Almelo. He signed a contract until 2011. In 2009 Birger Maertens was voted 8th best overall player in the Eredivisie by Dutch football magazine Voetbal International. Hans Cornelis
Hans Cornelis (born 13 October 1982) is a Belgian professional football manager and former player who is the head coach of Belgian Division 2 club Lokeren-Temse. Playing career Cornelis was part of a last minute transfer deal in the late evening of 31 August 2009. Cercle Brugge and Genk came to an extensive agreement: Cornelis was sold to Cercle Brugge, his teammate Jelle Vossen joined him on loan. Thomas Buffel made the opposite move. Following a trial at Notts County, Cornelis joined Deinze for the 2015–16 season. Stijn Stijnen (; born 7 April 1981) is a Belgian retired professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and the current manager of Patro Eisden Maasmechelen. He played in 189 Belgian Pro League games during thirteen seasons, mainly with Club Brugge with which he won nine major titles, including two national championships. Josephus Gerardus Dominicus "Sef" Vergoossen (, born 5 August 1947 in Echt) is a former Dutch football manager. Biography Vergoossen began his managerial career in 1978 with VVV-Venlo, managing the club for 12 years until 1989, after which he managed MVV for nine years and Roda JC for three years, whom he led to victory in the 1999–2000 KNVB Cup. is a Japanese former professional footballer who played as a forward. He made over 50 appearances for the Japanese national team and he played professionally for two decades in Japan, Brazil, Belgium, Serbia and the United States. Wesley Sonck (born 9 August 1978) is a Belgian professional football manager and former player who manages the Belgium U19 national team. He played as a striker for Molenbeek, Germinal Ekeren, Germinal Beerschot, Genk, Ajax, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Club Brugge. He was capped by Belgium at international level. Beli Moumouni Dagano (born 1 January 1981) is a Burkinabé former professional footballer who played as a striker. At international level, he represented the Burkina Faso national team. Club career Dagano began his career at Ivorian side Stella Club d'Adjamé, based in Abidjan.
