2001 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification
The 2001 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification or GP Challenge was a series of motorcycle speedway meetings used to determine the 12 riders that would qualify for the 2001 Speedway Grand Prix to join the other 10 riders that finished in the leading positions from the 2000 Speedway Grand Prix. The format was similar to the previous year, in that 2 riders would qualify straight from the Intercontinental and Continental finals and 10 riders would qualify through the GP Challenge. Peter Karlsson won the GP Challenge. Speedway Grand Prix Qualification
The Speedway Grand Prix Challenge or Speedway Grand Prix Qualification is an annual Motorcycle speedway, speedway qualifying tournament to determine the qualifiers for the Speedway Grand Prix, which is the World Championship of speedway. History From 1995 the List of Individual Speedway World Championship medalists, Individual World Championship was replaced by the Grand Prix system. The 17 qualifiers for the 1995 Grand Prix were the top 10 from the 1994 Individual Speedway World Championship, 1994 World final, 5 seeds and 2 wildcards. From 1996, the leading riders from each Grand Prix series would automatically qualifying for the following year's event. The remaining places would be filled by the leading riders in the Challenge event and qualifiers from the both the Continental Speedway Final and Intercontinental Final. Zoltán Adorján
Zoltán Adorján (born 15 November 1961 in Debrecen, Hungary) is former international motorcycle speedway rider.Bamford, R. & Shailes, G. (2002). ''A History of the World Speedway Championship''. Stroud: Tempus Publishing. He is a 13 times Hungarian national champion. Career Adorján came to prominence when he reached the 1985 Individual Speedway World Championship final. Four years later in 1989 he won the Continental Speedway Final on the way to reaching his second World final. The following year he teamed up with Sándor Tihanyi to secure a first medal at world level for Hungary when they won a bronze at the 1990 Speedway World Pairs Championship in Germany. On 30 July 1995, he won the Continental Final, which formed part of the 1996 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification. It was the second time he had won the final having previously won it in 1989. Piotr Protasiewicz
Piotr Protasiewicz (born 25 January 1975 in Zielona Góra, Poland) is a Polish international speedway rider. Career He has ridden for the Polish national team in the Speedway World Cup in 1996 and 2005. He was also World U-21 Champion in 1996. In October 1997, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 1998 Grand Prix. Stéphane Trésarrieu (born 27 February 1975) is a former motorcycle racer from France, who competed in Grasstrack, Longtrack and motorcycle speedway. He is a three times speedway champion of France and eight times grasstrack champion of France. Career Stéphane raced in Britain in 2003, when he rode for the Isle of Wight Islanders during the 2003 Premier League speedway season. He won seven French caps. In 2018, he was part of the French team, along with Dimitri Bergé, Mathieu Trésarrieu and David Bellego, that won the 2018 Team Long Track World Championship. Rinat Mukatdisovich Mardanshin (russian: Ринат Мукатдисович Марданшин; December 24, 1963 – January 19, 2005) was a Russian motorcycle speedway rider of Tatar ethnicity, who rode in the 2001 Speedway World Cup for Russia.
