The 2001 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the third edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens and was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina. New Zealand defeated Australia to win the tournament for the first time. Martín Gaitán
Martín Gaitán (born June 15, 1978 in Paraná) is a former Argentine rugby union footballer and a current coach. He played as a centre. Gaitán started his career with Club Atlético San Isidro in 1997. He soon earned his debut for the national team, playing against the United States team in 1998. He then spent most of the next four years playing sevens. In 2002, Gaitán moved to France to play for Biarritz and in 2003 he was selected to be part of the Argentina Rugby World Cup The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. Hernán Senillosa (born October 1, 1977 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentina, Argentine rugby union player. Senillosa rugby position is Centre (rugby union), centre. His brother Santiago "Aguaviva" Senillosa, is also an important rugby player. Senillosa made his debut for the national side on April 28, 2002, in a match against , and has received 30 caps in total, scoring 128 points (as of September 23, 2007). Senillosa was in the Argentine squad for the 2003 Rugby World Cup, 2003 and 2007 Rugby World Cup, 2007 Rugby World Cups, where he has made 4 appearances in total. Agustín Pichot (born 22 August 1974, in Buenos Aires) is a retired Argentine rugby union player, formerly captain of the Argentine team and the English club Bristol. In addition to Bristol, he played for French sides Stade Français and Racing Métro after leaving Argentine team CASI from San Isidro in 1997. In 2011, he was inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame. He was Vice-Chairman of World Rugby between 2016 and 2020.
