2001 New York Jets Season
The 2001 New York Jets season was the franchise's 32nd season in the National Football League (NFL), the 42nd season overall, and the first under new head coach Herman Edwards. The team improved upon its 9–7 record from 2000 and the Jets finished 10–6 and qualified for the final Wild Card position in the American Football Conference (AFC). They lost in the Wild Card round to the Oakland Raiders, with the score of 38–24. The American Football Conference – Eastern Division or AFC East is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Santana Moss
Santana Terrell Moss (born June 1, 1979) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for fourteen seasons. He played college football for the University of Miami, where he earned All-American honors. Moss was picked by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft, where he spent 4 seasons with the team, before playing for the Washington Redskins for 10 seasons. Moss was selected as an All-Pro in 2005. Early years Moss was born in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami Carol City Senior High, and played high school football for the Carol City Chiefs. Paul Hackett (American Football)
Paul Roger Hackett (born July 5, 1947) is a former American football coach. He served as head football coach of University of Pittsburgh from 1989 to 1992 and at the University of Southern California (USC) from 1998 to 2000. Hackett was quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Oakland Raiders. Dawn Marie DiFortuna-Aponte (born c. 1971) is an American football executive, accountant, and attorney. She is the chief administrator of football operations for the National Football League (NFL), having served in the position since June 2017. Early years Aponte grew up on Staten Island, New York, and attended Notre Dame Academy. She went to the University of Delaware and graduated in 1993 with a B.S. degree in accounting. Siitupe Marcus "Tupe" Peko, (born September 19, 1978) is a former American Football offensive guard. Peko attended La Serna High School and first played at the collegiate level at Cerritos College before transferring to Michigan State University. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for 4 years, at first primarily as a backup and started in 11 games including playoffs before injuries plagued Peko. 2000 Iowa State Cyclones Football Team
The 2000 Iowa State Cyclones football team represented the Iowa State University in the 2000 NCAA Division I-A football season. This was Dan McCarney's sixth season as head coach. The team captains were Chris Anthony, Ryan Harklau, Reggie Hayward, and Sage Rosenfels. The Cyclones were quarterbacked by Sage Rosenfels. Sage is among many former Cyclones from the 2000 team to make it to the NFL. Others were J. J. James Reed (born February 3, 1977) is a former American football defensive tackle that played in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played college football at Iowa State. Reed has also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints. High School Career James Reed went to Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan. He played offensive tackle his junior year, and started at Middle Linebacker his senior year. Jamie Henderson (born January 1, 1979) is a former American Football player (NFL). He played cornerback at the University of Georgia and was drafted in the 4th round of the 2001 draft by The New York Jets. He played for the New York Jets from 2001–2003.
