The 2001 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series was the seventh season of the Craftsman Truck Series, the third highest stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. List Of NASCAR Truck Series Champions
The NASCAR Truck Series Drivers' Championship is awarded by the chairman of NASCAR to the most successful NASCAR Camping World Truck Series racing car driver over a season, as determined by a points system based on race results. The Drivers' Championship was first awarded in 1995 to Mike Skinner. The first driver to win multiple Championships was Ron Hornaday Jr., in 1996 and 1998. The most recent Drivers' Champion is Zane Smith who won his first championship in 2022. Overall, Nineteen different drivers have won the Championship, with Ron Hornaday Jr. holding the record for most titles at four. Crafton has the record for most consecutive Drivers' Championships, winning two from 2013 to 2014. Jerry Robertson (racing Driver)
Gerald Robertson (born January 2, 1962) is an American former professional stock car racing driver. He competed part-time in NASCAR from 1996 to 2006 (as well as one ARCA race in 1987). He primarily drove for underfunded teams in the Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series as well as in NASCAR's Southwest and Midwest Series, winning twice in the Southwest Series. He is notable for being the first ever driver for Furniture Row Racing, a team based out of Denver (also where Robertson is from) that would go on to win multiple races in the NASCAR Cup Series and the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series championship after starting out as an underfunded team in the series. Michael Ritch
Michael Ritch (born February 24, 1973) is an American stock car racing driver who competed in 47 races across NASCAR's top three series between 1992 and 2002. He also competed in 165 Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series races between 1998 and 2009, winning 15 races and the 2007 Southern Division Championship. Early career Ritch began his racing career when he was 9 years old when he raced BMX bikes. He would eventually move to late model race cars. Donnie Neuenberger
Donnie Neuenberger (born August 10, 1962) is an American professional stock car racing driver. Neuenberger is a cancer survivor. During the 2004 season, he was diagnosed after nerves were pinched by the tumor during a race. Racing career NASCAR Nationwide Series Neuenberger made his Busch Series debut at Lowe's Motor Speedway in fall 2002. With his alma mater, the University of Maryland, College Park on the No. 77 Moy Racing Ford, he started in 41st and finished 26th. Neuenberger was then able to run more races in 2003, as most of his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule emptied out. Driving Moy Racing and Means Racing (No. 52), he improved on his debut with a 20th place in the season opener at Daytona. Rick Ware Racing (RWR) is an American motorsports team which currently competes in the NASCAR Cup Series, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the NTT IndyCar Series. History The organizational roots of RWR date back to Ware & Sons Racing with Rick and his father John Ware competing in the SCCA Series. They raced under the banner "Ware & Sons" as early as the 1960s when Rick went go-kart racing. Once of legal driving age, Rick joined his father John Ware in the SCCA and IMSA Series. Spears Motorsports was a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team owned by Wayne and Connie Spears of Agua Dulce, California. The team is most notable for its longevity in the Truck Series, running all but two races before their closure, their commitment to running with Chevrolet and for always running their white and blue No. 75. Wayne Spears is a 2009 inductee of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame. Winston Cup Spears Motorsports debuted in 1987 at Riverside with road racer Tommy Kendall driving the No. 76 Spears Manufacturing Buick. Jerry Cook
Jerry Cook (born June 20, 1943) is a NASCAR modified championship race car driver. He began racing at the age of 13 and won the track championship at Utica-Rome Speedway in 1969. Racing career He eventually went to become a six-time champion in the NASCAR Modified series (1971–72, 1974–77). His rivalry with fellow Rome, New York driver Richie Evans is legendary. He retired after the 1982 season with 342 wins. He stayed with the sport, and helped shape the series. In 1973, he attempted to qualify for the Daytona 500 in a No. 07 Chevrolet. Matthew Justin Crafton (born June 11, 1976) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He is a three-time champion of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (2013, 2014, 2019), in which he competes full-time, driving the No. 88 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing. Early career Crafton was born in Tulare, California. Before turning to NASCAR racing in 2000, he raced go-karts, midgets, and mini sprints. Crafton began his go-kart career at the age of seven after receiving a kart as a present for graduating from kindergarten.
