2001 Chatham Cup
The 2001 Chatham Cup was the 74th annual nationwide knockout football competition in New Zealand. Up to the last 16 of the competition, the cup was run in three regions (northern, central, and southern), with central and southern regions combining at the fourth round and an open draw from the quarter-finals on. National League teams received a bye until the Fourth Round. In all, 136 teams took part in the competition. Note: Different sources give different numberings for the rounds of the competition. Some record five rounds prior to the quarter-finals; others note a preliminary round followed by four full rounds. The former system is used in this article. Tied matches were decided by golden goal extra time and penalty shoot-outs. The 2001 final University-Mount Wellington and Central United played out a six-goal draw before the match went to penalties. North Harbour Stadium
North Harbour Stadium is a stadium situated in Albany, in North Shore City, New Zealand. It was opened in 1997, after nearly a decade of discussion, planning and construction. Ellerslie (soccer)
Ellerslie AFC is an association football club based in Ellerslie, New Zealand. The senior team currently competes in the NRFL Championship. Club history Ellerslie AFC’s history goes back to the original founding of the Auckland Football Association in 1887, whereby it was one of the seven clubs to participate in the Association’s inaugural competition. The Club continued into the second season of organised soccer in Auckland, but, like the playing of the game at that time, did not continue past that point. Auckland football had slipped into a period of recess, due to the lack of suitable grounds, and Ellerslie became an early victim of the break in competition. Onehunga-Mangere United
Onehunga Mangere United is an amateur association football club in Māngere Bridge, New Zealand. They currently compete in the NRFL Championship. History The club was formed in 1921 as a sporting club for members of the Onehunga Methodist Church. In 1924 at a meeting of members the decision was taken to rename the club Onehunga Athletic Soccer Club and Waikaraka Park became the clubs first official home ground before becoming the Onehunga Association Football Club in 1926. In 1964 at the A.G.M. there was a suggestion that the club look seriously at incorporating the Māngere name as Onehunga Mangere United AFC. Mangere United is a community football club football (soccer) club in Mangere, Auckland, New Zealand. They are currently a member of the Auckland Football Federation. Caversham is an association football club based in Dunedin, New Zealand. They compete in the ODT FootballSouth Premier League. They are named for the suburb of Caversham to the southwest of Dunedin's city centre, best known for its former international sports venue Carisbrook. Caversham AFC, however, are based not there but at Tonga Park, located one kilometre to the south in the suburb of Forbury. Glenfield Rovers was a semi-professional football club based in Glenfield, New Zealand. The men's team competed in the NRFL Division 1 in 2020, having suffered relegation from the NRFL Premier in 2019.
