2001 Calgary Municipal Election
The 2001 Calgary municipal election was held on October 15, 2001 to elect a Mayor and 14 Aldermen to Calgary City Council. Three term Calgary Aldermen Dave Bronconnier won 28 per cent of the vote defeating four term Aldermen Bev Longstaff and fifteen other candidates to become the 35th Mayor of Calgary. Calgary City Council
The Calgary City Council is the legislative governing body that represents the citizens of Calgary. The council consists of 15 members: the chief elected official, titled the mayor, and 14 councillors. Jyoti Gondek was elected mayor in October 2021 as the city's 37th. Joe Ceci
Joseph Anthony Ceci (born July 30, 1957) is an Albertan politician who was elected in the 2019 Alberta general election to represent the electoral district of Calgary-Buffalo in the 30th Alberta Legislature. He was previously elected in 2015 to represent Calgary-Fort in the 29th Legislature. He is a member of the Alberta New Democratic Party. Linda Fox-Mellway is a municipal politician from Alberta, Canada. She served as Alderman for ward 14 of Calgary City Council from 1995. On October 18, 2010, Fox-Mellway was voted out of office. Richard William McIver (born August 28, 1958) is a Canadian politician who has represented Calgary-Hays in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta since 2012. A member of the United Conservative Party (UCP), McIver is the current minister of municipal affairs. He entered politics in 2001 when he was elected to the Calgary City Council, serving until 2010. In 2012, he joined the Progressive Conservatives (PCs) and was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). McIver was a cabinet minister from 2013 until the PCs were defeated in the 2015 provincial election. Bob Hawkesworth
Robert Andrew "Bob" Hawkesworth (born February 18, 1951) is a Canadian politician and a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. Life and career Hawkesworth was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary before being elected in 1980 to Calgary City Council as alderman for Ward 3. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 1986 general election to represent the riding of Calgary Mountain View for the Alberta New Democratic Party.
