2001 Buy.com Tour
The 2001 Buy.com Tour season ran from Mar 8 to October 28. The season consisted of 28 official money golf tournaments, and one canceled tournament. Two tournaments were played outside of the United States. The top 15 players on the year-end money list earned their PGA Tour card for 2002. The money list was based on prize money won during the season, calculated in U.S. dollars. The top 15 players on the tour earned status to play on the 2002 PGA Tour. Pat Bates
Patrick Alfred Bates (born July 26, 1969) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and who served as the head men's golf coach at the University of Central Oklahoma from 2011-2016. Bates was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he played for coach Buddy Alexander's Florida Gators men's golf team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 1988 to 1991. John Maginnes
John Maginnes (born July 14, 1968) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Nike Tour and is currently a golf analyst with his own show on Sirius XM Radio. Playing career Maginnes joined the Nike Tour in 1994. In 1995 he picked up his first win on Tour in at the Nike San Jose Open and also earned his PGA Tour card through qualifying school. In his rookie year on Tour he came close to winning the Buick Challenge but lost in a playoff to Michael Bradley. He finished 113th on the money list and retained his Tour card for the following year. He didn't play well enough in 1997 to retain his Tour card so he split time between the PGA and Nationwide Tour in 1998, picking up a victory at the Nike Dakota Dunes Open on the Nationwide Tour. He finished fifth on the money list that year, earning him his PGA Tour card for 1999. Ben Crane
Benjamin McCully Crane (born March 6, 1976) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early years and amateur career Crane was born in Portland, Oregon. He was introduced to golf at age five by his grandfather. He grew up playing at the nearby Portland Golf Club, where Ben Hogan won the Portland Open in 1945. Crane graduated from Beaverton High School in 1994 and attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, but did not play golf for the Bears. He transferred to the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon and played golf for the Ducks. He graduated in 1999 and turned professional that year. Michael Long (golfer)
Michael Richard Long (born 27 August 1968) is a New Zealand professional golfer who has played on a number of tours, including two seasons on the PGA Tour and three seasons on the European Tour. He won four times on the PGA Tour of Australasia between 1996 and 2018 and twice on the Nationwide Tour. He won the 2020 European Senior Tour Q-School. Guy Boros
Guy Donald Boros (born September 4, 1964) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He previously played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. He is the son of Hall of Fame golfer Julius Boros. Boros was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He attended the University of Iowa and was a three-time All-Big Ten member of the golf team. David Sutherland (golfer)
David Allan Sutherland (born February 20, 1966) is an American professional golfer. Following in his older brother Kevin's footsteps, Sutherland attended Fresno State and was an All-American golfer there. He turned pro in 1989. Sutherland played on the PGA Tour in 1991 after finishing T36 at qualifying school. He failed to earn enough money (finished 152nd on the money list) to retain his tour card. He played on the Nationwide Tour in 1992 and 1993. He regained his PGA Tour card for 1997 by finishing 17th at qualifying school and continued playing on the tour through 2004. Jay Delsing (born October 17, 1960) is an American professional golfer. Delsing was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He played college golf at UCLA with Corey Pavin, Steve Pate, Tom Pernice Jr., and Duffy Waldorf. He graduated from UCLA in 1983 with a degree in Economics. Steve Haskins (born November 13, 1958) is an American professional golfer who plays on the Champions Tour. Todd Barranger
Todd Barranger (born October 19, 1968) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Asian Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Barranger joined the PGA Tour in 1994, earning his Tour card through qualifying school but he wasn't able to retain his card. He played in a limited amount of Nationwide Tour events in 1995 and 1996 due to being diagnosed with testicular cancer. Richard Zokol
Richard Francis "Dick" Zokol (born August 21, 1958) is a Canadian professional golfer who has played on the Canadian Tour, PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour, winning at least one event in each venue. Amateur career Zokol was born in Kitimat, British Columbia. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and was the captain of the 1981 NCAA championship golf team. He was also an All-American selection in 1981, on the Second Team.
