2000–01 Russian Cup
The 2000–01 Russian Cup was the ninth season of the Russian football knockout tournament since the dissolution of Soviet Union. The tournament was won by Lokomotiv Moscow who beat Anzhi Makhachkala on penalties in the final after the match finished 1–1 after extra time. First round The first round was played on March 29, 2000 and featured Russian Football National League teams only. Second round The first round was played between April 18 and May 2, 2000 and featured Russian Football National League teams only. Third round The first round was played between May 24 and May 9, 2000 and featured Russian Football National League teams only. Fourth round The first round was played between June 9 and June 26, 2000 and featured Russian Football National League teams only. FC Lokomotiv Moscow (''FC Lokomotiv Moskva'', russian: link=no, Футбольный клуб "Локомотив" Москва, ) is a Russian professional football club based in Moscow. Lokomotiv have won the Russian Premier League on three occasions; the Soviet Cup twice; and the Russian Cup a record nine times. FC Dynamo Makhachkala (russian: ФК Динамо Махачкала) is a Russian football club based in Makhachkala. Club history In the 2006 season Dynamo finished 16th in the Russian First Division. However, the club was denied the professional license and thus relegated to amateur level. Colours are all white (home) or white shirt with broad blue stripe, blue shorts (away). The club was founded in 1946 and debuted in the North Caucasus zone of the Soviet Group 3, finishing seventh of eight teams. Following this, Dynamo would not play in the Soviet League until 1958, when they entered Class B. In 1958–1960 the team was known as ''Temp''. FC Kuban (russian: link=no, Футбольный клуб "Кубань" Краснодар) was a Russian football club based in Krasnodar. The team began playing in the Russian Premier League in 2011, after it was promoted for winning the Russian First Division. FC Kuban was one of the oldest football clubs in Russia. Founded as Dynamo of the Krasnodar NKVD, FC Kuban changed its affiliations because of changing politics in the USSR.
