The 2000–01 Egyptian Premier League is the Forty-fourth season of the Egyptian Premier League since its establishment in 1948. It was only consisting of one group of 14 teams. Egyptian Premier League
The Egyptian Premier League ( ar, الدوري المصري الممتاز), also known as WE Egyptian Premier League (WE EPL) after the addition of title sponsor WE, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the top level of the Egyptian football league system. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Unlike most other leagues, all games are played all over the week. The Egyptian Premier League was founded in 1948, unifying the local leagues that had existed previously. 70 clubs have competed in the league since its founding. Al Ahly have won the title 42 times, more than any other club. Their closest rivals, Zamalek, have won the league 14 times. Ghazl El Mahalla Sporting Club ( ar, نادي غزل المحلة الرياضي), commonly referred to as El Mahalla or simply Mahalla, is an Egyptian football club based in El Mahalla El Kubra. They compete in the Egyptian Premier League, the top tier of the Egyptian football league system. They are one of seven teams to have won the Egyptian Premier League, having won it once, in the 1972–73 season. The history of Ghazl El Mahalla has witnessed many achievements, most significantly during the era of the golden generation of the club which led the team to reach the finals of the African Cup of Champions Clubs (Later known as CAF Champions League) in 1974, only beaten in the final by CARA Brazzaville from the People's Republic of the Congo. Tarek El-Said
Tarek El-Said ( ar, طارق السعيد; born 5 April 1978) is a former Egyptian footballer. He was a left winger who played for Al-Ahly, Zamalek, and Anderlecht in the Belgian First Division. Career Tarek started as a youth player in Al-Ahly team under the coaching of Hossam El-Badry. Then he transferred to Zamalek at the age of 14, he earned his chance to play for the first team in 1998. He helped Zamalek achieve many tournament successes, and got the title of Egyptian League Top Scorer (2000–01) and was chosen the best Egyptian footballer in the same year. Then Tarek traveled to wear the shirts of famous Belgian club RSC Anderlecht, for a whole year. He returned Zamalek, because of injury. After three years of difficulties in Zamalek, he regained his top performance with Al-Ahly after returning home again in July 2006. 2002 CAF Cup
The 2002 CAF Cup was the 11th edition of the CAF Cup, the African continental club competition for runners up of the respective domestic leagues. It was won by Algerian team JS Kabylie who beat Tonnerre Yaoundé of Cameroon 4–1 over two legs in the final. With the win, JS Kabylie became the first and only side to win the competition three times in a row, and kept the trophy. Ismaily Sporting Club ( ar, نادي الإسماعيلي الرياضي) is an Egyptian professional football club, established on 20 March 1921 as El Nahda Sporting Club ( ar, جمعية نهضة الشباب المصري ) ( Egyptian pronunciation: Nady El Nahda), based in Ismaïlia, Egypt. Al Masry Sporting Club ( ar, النادي المصري للألعاب الرياضية) is an Egyptian sports club based in Port Said, Egypt. The club is mainly known for its professional football team, that competes in the Egyptian Premier League, the highest division of the Egyptian football league system. El-Mansoura Sporting Club ( ar, نادي المنصورة الرياضي), is an Egyptian football club based in El Mansoura, Egypt. The club is currently playing in the Egyptian Second Division, the second-highest league in the Egyptian football league system.
