2000–01 Celtic F.C. Season
Celtic played the 2000–01 season in the Scottish Premier League. Martin O'Neill became manager and Celtic won a domestic treble of the three major Scottish trophies: the Scottish League Cup, the Scottish Premier League trophy and the Scottish Cup. Review and events Management Following the departure of John Barnes in February 2000, Martin O'Neill was appointed as manager of Celtic in June 2000. Kenny Dalglish, who was director of football at Celtic, left the club soon after. John Robertson and Steve Walford followed O'Neill from Leicester City to be assistant manager and coach. Treble (association Football)
A treble in association football is achieved when a club team wins three trophies in a single season. A ''continental treble'' involves winning the club's national league competition, main national cup competition, and main continental trophy. A ''domestic treble'' involves winning three national competitions—normally the league title, the primary cup competition, and one secondary competition. Rab Douglas
Robert James Douglas (born 24 April 1972) is a Scottish former professional footballer and current coach for Arbroath who played as a goalkeeper. He played for several clubs, including Livingston, Dundee, Celtic, Leicester City and Forfar Athletic. Douglas was part of the Celtic side that reached the 2003 UEFA Cup Final, under the management of Martin O'Neill. He also represented Scotland at international level, playing 19 times between 2002 and 2005. In 2017, Douglas was inducted into the Dundee FC Hall of Fame. Didier Fernand Agathe (born 16 August 1975) is a French football manager and former professional footballer who most recently managed Chester-le-Street United. He is most known for his playing time at Celtic. Agathe began his career at French side Montpellier HSC before moving to Scotland to join Raith Rovers and then Hibernian. Alan Thompson (footballer Born 1973)
Alan Thompson (born 22 December 1973) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. As a player he was a midfielder who notably played in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa and in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic. He also played in the Football League with Newcastle United, Leeds United and Hartlepool United He made 550 appearances during his career and was capped by England once against Sweden in 2004. Following retirement, Thompson has worked as a coach for Newcastle United, Celtic, Birmingham City and Blackpool. Joos Valgaeren
Joos Valgaeren (, born 3 March 1976) is a Belgian former international professional footballer who played as a defender. His former clubs include Club Brugge in Belgium, Roda JC and FC Emmen in the Netherlands, and Celtic in Scotland. His most successful spell was his time at Celtic, where he won three league titles and was part of the side that reached the 2003 UEFA Cup Final. He also played for his country, and was in the Belgian squad for Euro 2000 where he played in all three group games. Chris Sutton
Christopher Roy Sutton (born 10 March 1973) is an English former professional football player and manager. He later became a pundit and commentator for BT Sport, regularly working on their coverage of Scottish football. He is now also a pundit and occasional match co-commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live. He played as a forward from 1991 to 2007 for Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Celtic, Birmingham City and Aston Villa. Sutton scored over 150 career goals in over 400 league appearances spanning 16 years in the English and Scottish Premier Leagues. He was capped once by England. Steve Walford
Stephen Joseph Walford (born 5 January 1958) is an English former football player and manager. He played as a defender for clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Norwich City, West Ham United, and West Bromwich Albion. After his playing career, Walford has worked as a coach, often assisting Martin O'Neill. Early life Walford was born in Highgate, London. Playing career Walford began playing as a centre half. He started his footballing career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1974.
